i have never been pulled over or ticketed for tints. I have 5% all around and black interior and cops over here in NY just dont seem to care. I was actually pulled over once and they just shined the spotlight in my back window so they could see in. they didnt even mention the tints.

 

I live in Chicago. and it is illegal to have front tint on the windows. I have 35% front, 20% rear. I have only got one ticket and that was when my car was parked! I came outside and saw a ticket on it! Fucking LAME.

I think too dark of tint has a right to be illegal cuz it can be dangerous. But 35% IMO shouldnt be illegal.

 

I've got something like 35 front and 20 back. Got pulled over once and got a warning, but the cop was mostly trying to figure out if I had been drinking (which luckily I hadn't). I think mostly it just gives cops an excuse to pull you over, so if you have other things to hide, don't get the tint. Otherwise I think cops don't care that much, unless your windows are Manute Bol black.

 

Funny how this topic has came back. I just got pulled over for my tint in the front. The shop I got it from said it's 45% but the cop's meter shows 35%, and he said 70% is the legal limit. Anyway, got a month to "fix-it", and yes my interior is ebony.
