Tints at dealership
Tints at dealership
Do you guys recommend getting a tint from the dealership instead of smaller shops. I know dealerships might bring the car to the smaller shops to get the tints done, but I don't know of a good tinting shop around. And plus, my driver seat started squeeking, so I'm gonna try and get that replaced under warranty.
So question is: would you recommend tint jobs from the dealership?
I also remember seeing a link that led to a website with a list of shops that are qualified to do tints for a specific brand or something. Anyone know about that?
Thanks in advanced.

I got my TSX tinted at the dealer for free(part of the deal) and I think they did OK. Nothing superb, but I have no complains. The good thing is, when you tint at the dealership, your tint is warrantied alongside the rest of your car, so you don't have to go somewhere else.
On the other hand, dealers charge waaaaaaay too much for tint(here they charge $399 Canadian). I would never pay that much for a tint. I can get it tinted for $150(or a bit more) if I were to pay.
As I said, quality-wise, they're just like other places.

Thanks, I was just pondering the pros and cons of getting it done at the dealership since I will be going there soon for my first oil change.
I wonder if anyone has a bad experience getting tints at the dealership or if they all just had it done elsewhere.

Also, about the seat, i took mine in for them to look at because it was loose, and they fixed it and gave me a brand new TL as a rental for the day and night which was all covered under warranty
Remember the story of the cart and the horse? In short, which should go first?
What I did was investigate and educate myself as to how the tint material worked, held up, was applied (correctly), track history, horror stories, interfered with radio/nav etc. In other words I took the time to know what they hell I was buying and establish a B.S. detector for when I started talking to people. During this education process I started to identify what brands/makes to explore further and which to avoid BEFORE I checked into applicators and pricing.
My standard M.O. - I wanted to buy something not be sold something. This approach has always served me well.
P.S. - Do a search on this site. There's a lot of good info.

Thank You...

That's what I did.... R E S E A R C H.
I know more now than most tint shops do. No Joke!
Its scary the crap that's out there. Do your homework, it will pay off. My dealer, I found out in the end was offering crap that would peel and turn purple in a year. They were using a shop that used tints that were developed in the 70's.
