Tint the windshield?

Has anyone ever tinted their windshield (TSX or other vehicle)? What is the right tint to use so you can still see safely? Will you get pulled over and ticketed with a tinted windshield? Is there a certain amount that you can get buy with? Thanks for the help guys

As far as I know, it's illegal to tint the entire front windshield in all 50 states. However, most states will allow a strip of tint (with requirement like the height of the strip) on the top portion of the front windshield.

With that said, I took my chance and tinted the entire front windshields of my Prelude and Integra. I have not gotten a ticket for it **knock on wood**, but I did get pulled over couple times with just warnings. I was gonna do the same with my TSX, but the same shop (who tinted my Prelude, my Integra, my TSX, and my parents' Civic) refused to tint it anymore.

I don't undertand the tint... you afraid some rival gang member is going to spot you and gun you down?

I have to admit though... I had a tint on my Honda... WHEN I WAS SIXTEEN AND DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER.

What does that last sentence suppose to mean? Are you saying that everyone on the road with a Honda with tinted windows, whose not 16, don't know shit?

I had my windows tinted because it keeps the car cooler, keeps out 98% of UV light, and personally I don't want other people to be able to look into my car and see anything they might like to take. Also it looks pretty cool on my white TSX.

Not too funny, Crazytree. You could have gone easier on the guy, there's nothing wrong with tinting windows, it's a personnal taste thing. Just the windshield shouldn't be tinted, it's illegal.

Well, in all seriousness, with ignorant comments aside, tinting the windshield is practical and has its good and bad sides. I live in Las Vegas, and anyone that has ever been here can tell you it's so close to hell you can see sparks. In other words, it is F@#$ing hot!!!! So, I tinted my windshield simply to block out the 120 degree sun. On top of that it also helps to create privacy and a mysterious look to my car. On the bad side, it is extremely illegal, but, in Las Vegas it is so common that you really don't get bothered for it. If you chose to do it , do not, i repeat, DO NOT, go darker than 35%. 20% is way too dark, trust me. 35% is dark enough to keep the sun out and the dash protected while also not being to dark so as not to see out of it. My TSX is 5% all around with 35% on the windshield. It is very dark, just how i like it. But, everybody has their own personal preference. Check out my pics to see what your dealing with. Good luck. Oh, one more thing...a lot of tint places will not do this for you, but , if you tell them not to put it on the receipt, and that if you were ever stopped you wouldn't drop there name, they will probably comply.......oh, crazytree... my parents money, come on man, you couldn't think of anything better than that....

Like someone else has said, tinted windows is a personal thing. If you don't like it, don't make stupid ignorant comments!!! :sqntfawk:

One question about the tint on the front window. I had 35% on my old car, sides and back window, and thats fairly dark (actually 50% was the limit in Ohio, where I lived at the time). I couldn't imagine it would be easy to see out with 35% on the front window. During the day it might be fine, but how is it at night?

That one pic you have from the front is definitely cool looking... is it legal to tint the front in Vegas? My TSX is going to the shop Saturday to get tinted, I think I'm going with 35% all the way around

PROLIX.........no, tinting the front windshield in Vegas is not legal, but, like i said, it is so common that you dont really get bothered. The law in Vegas is you can tint your windshield down to the "AS1" on the front. Which is about 8inches. It's not really that hard to see out of at night except in really dark residential areas. I'm use to it already...
