Tint Scratches
I finally found a verticle scratch on my window. Dammit Jim! Also talked to a few tinters accross the country and they have all had some problems with the TSX no matter what film they used. Felt liners along that plastic blade seems to be the best fix for it. Too bad! The TSx is an easy car to tint, but with the addition of adding felt liners or moleskin it brings the cost up about $50+.
Oh well! When the scratch bothers me enough I will just replace the windows and file the edges this time for that factory glass look.

DB-No! Filing the edges won't help it. Only the felt or moleskin. I might try sanding the plastic blade down with 1500 grit sandpaper to see what that does before I replace the tint. All filing the edges does is make it look like factory glass since there won't be that 1/16th" gap around the border of the window. It looks like there isn't film on the window. It looks like factory smoked glass.

I don't understand what the deal is with users on this forum and problems with window tinting. My last car, a 1996 Nissan 200 SX SE-R has tints that were put on at least 7 or 8 years ago, and they still look great! I have no idea what tint is on it. Or what it's made of, and this car has been abused to no end, its got about 160,000 miles on it. What the hell are you guys doing to get all these scratches on em all over the place?! I realize I sound like I'm over reacting, but I'm just really puzzled as to what the deal is here hehe...

I'm just gonna live with mine since it's only 1 small one on drivers door. Passenger side still looks fine.

I have taken a credit card wrapped in a moist towel and cleaned the plastic wiper before installation and along with the thicker madico tint, i'm hoping it doesn't scratch. I rolled my windows down a few time, so far no scratches. I hope it stays that way.
You wouldn't believe how much dirt was on that wiper. You wont think there's a whole lot but there's a ton in there. A lot of dirt~! So be sure to keep it clean. That's actually what's scratching it, not the wiper itself.

I heard moleskins are crap from a well known tint installer. He said, either cut the plastic strips off during installation, or run the chance of a scratch. Any thoughts on cutting them off?

We sell the Moleskin kits for the TSX.
We designed our MoleSkin for this purpose alone. It is not the generic type most tint installers use.
If you use high quality felt there will be no problem. I would not cut your window seals off or you could have problems with water entering the car.

has anyone tried Plexus?
this is taken from Autopia.org
"Tinted window film that has been scratched can be polished with cleaners designed for the vinyl windows often found on convertible tops. The product I recommend for polishing and regular maintenance of tinted window film is Plexus. Plexus comes in an aerosol spray can and is safe for use on plastic, Plexiglas and tinted window film."

I also just noticed 2 verticle scratches on my Formula One Pinnacle Tint. 1 on the driver side window and 1 on the rear passenger window Only after 2 weeks of having it installed for $345
The guy insisted I didn't need moleskin, INSISTED!! After I asked him 76 times. He doesn't know it yet but he's replacing both effected tints and installing moleskin all around for FREE after I'm done with him. Especially because I have to drive an hour to his place both ways and leave the car and walk around a stupid mall for 3 hours. I HATE MALLS
