Thoughts on this TSX?

I havent looked must at the TSX as I was considering a TL Type-S. I do like the TSX but this one is near my house and caught my eye. I walked by it one day and it looked to be in good condition. Only thing is that the price seems pretty low comparably. Also, this isnt an Acura dealer so the warranty was only like 2,000 miles and 2 months or something like that. It says its the Euro R model which i couldnt find much info on. It looks like a lip kit and a badge? thoughts?

Just badging and wheel differences from a normal TSX done by the previous owner. The lot is still prolly making a grand on the trade-in but I would still have someone do a good mechanical look at it. Weird... they still have the plastic disclaimer on the bottom of the nav screen.

Oh yeah I did see that in person too, didn't even occur to me haha. Its been on the lot over a month now, cant recall exactly how long. Are the wheels part of the Euro R part too? I only assumed the price was lower because the previous owner added non-OEM parts? or is the Euro R package something you can get from Acura?

It looks like a debadge 07 TSX with:
- New tires
- Drilled/slotted front rotors
- New brake Pads (assuming)
- Painted and/or new calipers front and back
- blacked out trim on the front grill
- After market suspension (too low for A-Spec)
- Maybe a 35% window tint

You might also have a new RSB, Intake, or header also. The upgrade listed above would cost about $2,000-$3,000 for parts/labor. It seems a little low for a 2007 w/ Navi with all the extras listed above. I would double check the car fax, make sure it has a good title AND take it to a mechanic to make sure there were no accidents that was fixed by a buddy for a case of beer.

There will be the remaining bumper-to-bumper factory warranty of 4yrs/50,000 and the power train up to 70,000 miles. My basic warranty was extended to about 52,500 miles because of an odometer lawsuit on my 2006 (not sure if it applies for the 07-08 TSX?). Because the car is in the warranty period, you can purchase an extended warranty to 100,000 miles from Acura.

If everything checks out, it looks like a very good deal for the TSX.

awesome, thanks for your help guys. Its def lower than stock and the tint seemed to be a good quality job. What's an RSB? rear sway bar?

Do you think the price reflects the aftermarket upgrades? Would i be able to negotiate it even lower because of the upgrades? What is the difference between the Warranty offered with the car (2000mi /2mo that i mentioned) and the factory one?

I'm not one to shy away from a slightly modded car as I have done work to my own s2000. Of course as long as the car checks out to be solid.

I would also do auto check in addition to Carfax. Carfax misses a lot of things.

This car looks familiar... I think this belonged to an AZ member from Delware. Looks to be in good shape, but definitely check out the Carfax and get a mechanic to look at it.

Yeah, this car is located in Wilmington, DE. if you remember who he is that would be great to ask him about the car, im sure he would be honest since its not even his car anymore.

My guess is the 2000mi/2mo (limited) warranty is offered by the seller only. It is a sells technique to demostrate the high quality cars s/he has on their lot. The Acura 4/50,000 warranty covers everything except brake pads, tires, clutch (6MT), rountine maint, fluid changes, windshield wipers, etc (normal ware/tear items). Unless the 2000mi/2mo includes a no questions asked return policy, you will not get any use from it.

The $18,000 price seems really low, that should be the price of an 06 w/ Navi from a private seller. I think you need to take a closer look at the car's history and the title just incase. This car with the mods and mileage should be about $20,500-$25,500 depending on the dealership or private seller.

Could it be a typo and be an 06 TSX? The only real difference between the two models is the 07 have tire pressure monitoring system (the valve stems on the tires kinda look like TPMS, not 100% sure?).

Carfax is way overrated. Thanks to a great advertising campaign over the last few years (plus the give away reports on ebay and the like), they're treated like the last word/ gospel, whatever. They miss a ton of stuff (and I say that because of what they didn't report on cars I've sold, not bought). This car is on a used car lot I'd bet because a "real" dealer (new car dealer) wouldn't touch it and it went to auction. May be a good deal if it's what you want, but for whatever reason (this asking price is about $3K-$4K lower than what it should be for an 07 w/ Nav and 31K miles, even from a neighborhood car lot), resale has obviously taken a hit and will most likely again when you go to resell it. In addition to other resources, I'd take the VIN to an Acura dealer and see if they'll run it through their computer for you (they're all connected). This may actually be your best opportunity to turn up any bad news.

Good advice regarding checking the VIN with an Acura dealer. Also, with that many mods, there may be something that has made the car slightly "off". --At the very least, I would check to see whether anything done may have voided the warranty.

Mrgold...your mention of the odometer lawsuit is interesting...(I recall seeing that; something about the odometers in Honda products not being completely accurate). Does that outcome apply to all 06's?

Thanks for more info guys. The lot is (i think) the collective Used lot for the group of dealerships on this road so I don't think it would be by the Honda dealer which its sitting right next to. If I decide to check it out I will thoroughly inspect it to see whats up with the price. Its awefully tempting , love those wheels.

Here is an old close thread about the class action settlement and some additional links with more information. It seems to covers all Honda/Acura vehicles between the 2002 to 2006 model years:

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-2004-2008-124/honda-acura-odometer-proposed-class-action-settlement-671839/

I didn't know anything about the settlement until I went to the Acura dealership for minor repair (son's cheap EBay PSP car charger blew the fuse while on vacation in Colorado). The service tech told me about the settlement and I had an extension on my basic warranty to about 52,500 miles (I had about +51,000 miles at the time). They replace the fuse for free.

I purchased my car new with 7 miles on the odo in May 06, I didn't get any notification in the mail about the lawsuit.

Thanks for the detailed info and link, mrgold. Interesting -- and helpful to know. (My 2006 is at 29,000; CPO basic warranty through 5/11).

I wonder if everyone's power train warranty is increased by that %, too...

I just ran the autocheck on this car and it is clean. But with all of the mods who knows what may have been done to the car (and how abused it was). That price is very cheap for an 07 with Nav. My own feeling would be to walk away but if you are willing to put up with the problems it is ultimately your call.

Can't be 2006, the TPMS indicator shows up on the photo of the car's instrument cluster.

Nope. Read the PDF of the settlement if you're curious why.

Sounds like a nice little car to pick up, I wonder if the devaluation is a result of many, many mods. ... Can't do Hondata on the 2007, though, right? That'd be a major detractor for me, now that I have it on mine.
