Thinking about selling the TSX...comments please

Hi all. I currently have a 06 PWP with ebony TSX with navi and a spec OEM kit only. It was purchased Jan 06. As of today, it has 9,680 miles on the car. I take great care of my car. I was wondering what you guys think I could get for the car? KBB suggests private sales at $28,300 without even counting the a spec kit. At dealer trade, KBB suggests $26,400. Car is paid off completely...

Don't get me wrong. I love the car, but I was thinking about getting the 07 TL Type S. They're very nice...of course I'm up for other suggestions. I was originally going to buy a TL, but drove home with a TSX...after seeing the TL-S, I'm having some thoughts...

anyway, I would love to hear some comments...thanks all

why not consider the new g35 instead.
i dont like the TLS, it doesnt look like a new "thing" to me, FWD, too much power for FWD, the price is about the same as new G, but thats just me.

I just test drove the new G last weekend,
IMO, the cabin has cockpit feel, the handling is superb (way better than TSX, I have a Z, I would expect it has better handling than the Z since it is newer), the whole interior & exterior styling is very stylish, the cabin is quite too.
Im thinking to trade my TSX too but for new G, im waiting for the coupe to come out. if it doesnt exceed my expectation then i'll keep the tsx.

u can't compare the g35 coupe to the TL, just look at the size.. one can fit people comfortably, the other like a can of sardines... sure it maybe has a little more power than the TL-S but some people prefer comfort.

try lugging a family around in a g35...

and to the OP: don't expect the dealer to give you much more because you have the bodykit... they may offer you a few hundred more, but that's about it.

im not comparing G35 coupe to TL for him/her. im comparing the sedan.
FYI, the new G coupe hasnt come out yet

edit : btw, even the old coupe has larger room in front than tsx.

Bored? Want more power? Wanted TL in the firslt place? What gives?

I feel ya, man. Bought my '06 w/ NAVI in October '06 and love the car, but unfortunately I am a car freak and change my cars too often. The TSX was the best all around package and I was sold on the looks, features and overall $ to stuff ratio. I, too, have looked at the TL-S, but for $37K, even though it is HAWT, I would prefer something a little more substantial like the 335i. The new G is hot too, but missing fogs and nothing urks me more than a naked front bumper! I also have a C230K, which is overall a pretty decent ride, but with a brand new one on the horizon for 2008, I think I might trade up to that. Overall, the TL-S is essentially 4 yrs old as hrj_1985 indirectly said. If ur gonna trade up ... I think you should get a new toy!

I traded in my car, 06' navi , aspec kit, prestine cond, 4k miles. Dealer took 23,500 for it. I showed them what kbb listed for trade in, they laugh as a new 06 can be had for that much. I suffer the loss but im happy with my current car IS350. Im sure if you brought it in to an Acura dealer you can get more because if they dont, no one else will.

Funny, I've been thinking the exact same thing. I haven't driven the G35 sedan yet, but it sounds great by most accounts.

BTW, local dealers absolutely will not budge off sticker for this car. I'm looking at the 6MT Sport.

To the OP, I'd second the idea of taking a look at the new G.

if you don't want to loose too much money then trade for the TL-S. Acura dealers will give you a better trade-in value because they sell Acuras. Other dealers will give you alot less because alot of times they don't even keep the car, they just have other Acura dealers bid on the car. Another reason is other dealers have to sell your car for less because they have to compete with the Acura dealers. I traded in my 05/navi 6spd with 24k miles on it over the summer for an 06/navi auto. KBB listed my trade-in value as $21k and i got $22.5 as a trade in. If i was to trade it in for say a Lexus or an Infiniti, i probably get $19k - $20k for it.

So not only will you loose several thousand dollars from this, but your going to go from no car payment to having a car payment? Or are you paying cash for a $40K car?

No way on earth you're going to get $28300 for that TSX.

I agree, no way it will go for 28K when you can talk a dealer into a 28-29K for a new 2007.

I wonder how many people buy a TSX and then want more room and switch to a TL. If it was not just room, but because of power, I would side with the G sedan idea...cause its RWD....and RWD>>>FWD when a lot of power is applied IMO.

thanks for the comments...

it was just a thought. like what above said, i got the car for overall value. i guess i'm debating if its worth the 10-12k difference. i don't know. i just wanted some thoughts from others about this. and yes i know i won't get 28k for my car. thats why i wanted to know what others are getting or what you think i could sell the car for private or trade in. i won't be getting another car for a very long time or if that. i was just having the thought about trading in now while the value is still high. of course if i can't get much for my car, then obviously i won't be doing anything at all and just keep the TSX. i still love the car. again, i just wanted some opinions and thanks for them.

about the g35, it is nice, however, my brother will have one soon.

i test drove the g35x 06, and sat in the 07 when i was looking around for a car. the interior of the 07 is much nicer than the 06. feels/looks more luxurious. the power of that car is awesome. a buddy of mine who came w/ me (he owns a g35 coup, 05). after the test drive, he was like 'your knees are weak, right?' and they most definately were.

unfortunately, i had to pass on the g35. first, b/c my wife didn't want a coupe. she can't stand 2-doors. and i kinda agree. but the coup version looks so sleek once you add the rear wing spoiler.

second, the price was just too high. even without the AWD and navi, the car was still out of my price range. not to mention it takes premium gasoline and it's fuel efficiency isn't too appealing (i know, if i'm able to afford the car, paying for gas shouldn't be a problem).

the TSX was just a good choice. we wanted something that was somewhat luxurious, fuel effiecient, easy on the eyes and reasonable with the wallet. i'm pretty happy with my choice. but if i ever have a mid-life crisis, i'm getting that g35.

If you want it...sell it.

I too may have to sell my '06 CGP TSX but only b/c I am up for a promotion and would get a company car if I got the promotion. No sense in having 2 car payments if I don't have to right? We'll see...

I too just purchased a used 2006 TSX from a car dealership. Mine has 1800 miles on the odometer, black on black, 6 MT, and is non-navi. I closed the deal for $23,200 OTD. It still has the new car smell...

It was a killer deal, but it just goes to show that if this guy is looking at trading in his '06, he is going to get a crappy offer from the dealer. They must have a pretty low bottom-line figure to be able to be sell at this cost and still turn a profit.

actually my dad just bought the new G35S sedan, its seats everybody very comfertably and im 5'11 my sister is 5'11 and my dad is 6 foot, my mom is tiny so whatever, but even when he had his G35 coupe, we were all fairly suprised at the seating arrangment and lack of being crammed in it, but the new sedan is a diff thing, more room, more power, new features, so i would say like hjr said go check that out, im in love with my tsx dont get me wrong, but stepping out of it and into the G35S...wow its like a rocket ship!

The only negative I've been able to find out about the new G35 so far is crappy gas mileage. That would factor into the decision for me, but the rest of the car is so appealing I might be able to overlook it. Dealers around here are stuck on sticker right now.

agreed, which is why i opted for the TSX. i don't mind paying premium. but that engine, as powerful and awesome as it is, has a price.

yea i have noticed the gas mileage situation also, not too bad but not as good as i expected, my dad got a good deal on his because he has been with sewell dealerships forever, but everything else about that car, all i can say is wow! also he was pretty lucky to get a hold of the his,G35SPORT Premium Graphite with black interior and NAVI, the dealership kept getting them in one by one and selling them as SOON as they arrived, but if you have any further questions about the car i can help you because i drive it quite often
