Is there still a thread on how to remove "not an ashtray"

I have a 04 without xm built in, so I have been using the roady 2 for my listening needs. I normally leave it laying in the not an ashtray, but would maybe like to install in in the opening. I understand there is a lot of work to it, but I can't seem to find the thread anymore. There really is not another good spot to install the roady 2, and I don't think I want to install it in the cd holder. Thanks for any advice.

Great find! I've always wanted to replace the "not an ashtray" with a real ashtray!

Does anyone have a picture of the part referenced above? There is no picture on the store's website.

Thanks,
Chris

I e-mailed them- no pictures in two exchanges but the person that answered the e-mail initially said the unit "mounts in the console". I then asked specifically if the part in question fits into and works in the space that "not an ashtray" currently occupies, and he replied that it does....I still haven't ordered the part, because I'm not convinced I wouldnt be spending money on something I'm not looking for, which is anything other than what I specified- i.e. an aftermarket unit that is other than a place-for-place substitute....

running the xm antenna

What I did with mine so far and it seems to work, is to have the xm laying in the not a ashtray and using the power port from the arm rest. Most of the wires hang between the driver or passenger seat into the roady 2. The antenna I fed back along the seats along the drive shaft hump. I then fed the wire under the seat to the door, and it seem like there was a tight seam in the seats that you could run the wire up along and stuff into the seam with your fingers. I have kids getting into the back seat and they have not dislodged it or tripped over the wire. I ran the wire along the top of the back seat to the middle then back to the metal lock. The magnet in the roady 2 held it in place, but it seemed like every now and then my reception would fade. I then moved my antenna further back into the window sill and attached a small piece of velcro tape under the antenna to stop if from sliding around. The only place I think the wire is visible is along the hump by the back seat, but at least it does not lock me into placing the antenna anyplace permanetly. What I need to find though is replacement tape to attach the roady 2 to the dash.
