tape player...

Do you think it's a good idea to add tape player, so that I can hook my laptop using a tape adaptor? I can use the laptop for MP3 player or watch DVD using car speakers.

Bad idea and how the hell you gonna play the laptop thru the tape player???
With those old ass cd to tape adapter thingies?

What you should do is get that adapter that lets you hook up to the AUX and then run a wire somewhere nice and hidden and just hook up your laptops out into that input you hid which is hooked up to the AUX.
Or why not just get an IPOD?

The cassette player will take up one of those storage bins....and, it's still a tape player! Now, if you've still got your "Cruisin' music" on cassette, then I'd say probably go for it, but if you're only buying it to plug your laptop in, it's a very expensive (and space hogging) addition to the car!

You'd probably get similar performance using an FM transmitter or something. I think Belkin has one that would work with laptops. I know most of them are marketed at iPods and other MP3 players, but they'll work with anything that has a stereo mini-jack in it. You won't be able to use one like the Griffin iTrip, though, since that device sucks power from the iPod. You need one that takes batteries or draws from the Aux power plug in the car.

But, as AKay said, the best idea is to do that little hack job and install an AUX Input adapter into the system and plug in that way.

The sound quality of the tape adaptor is not that great. Use the AUX like the 2nd post said.

For frequent, high-quality use, use the AUX input adapter.
For rare use where sound quality isn't as important, use an FM-transmitter. Cheap and easy.

Get the tape player just for the fact that one day, many years from now, people with way too much money who search the globe trying to find collectible, rare, one of a kind items will be offering six figures for your TSX, which will have been identified as one of the last, gas powered, land based automobiles to be equipped with a dealer installed cassette player.

Long live the cassette!!!

Don't forget the Benz C230 which still features the tape player has standard, the CD player as optional.
