sudden trip

i have to make an unplanned trip from NJ to PA

and unfortunatelty i need to take my 06 TSX baby since the family's 04 ML350 is in service....

it's a 06 PWP with about 1,200 miles on....and expecting only about 400 miles roundtrip this weekend....

can't get the car bra on now....no money no time..

it'll be a simple trip on I-80.....but i hate it BECAUSE it's I-80.

i have driven from Michigan to NJ this spring, and look what happened to my plates that was brand new with clear protecting coating on.

mainly the reason is because I-80 is the oldest highway... half the highway is on construction always....and half the traffic is trucks...

So, i need to make a simple decision of trying to make a layer on top of my "scratchless" PWP paint...and i 'm just thinking about going for a nice clean car wash then "more than enough" waxing over the paint.

somewhat it will form a layer and i'll be able to wash it off after the trip.

what do you guys think?

Just avoid big trucks, and other large vehicles that can chuck rocks right at your car. Other than that you should be fine. If I got through 5 months with my car, and I have no chips in the front of my car, then you can too.

If you are going to use the painter's tape then make sure you cover them well. If those tape starts come off they will leave scratches on your car. Its very light scartches but still you gotta need buffer to get those scratches out. You are going to get some rock chips...nothing you can do about it. Just avoid trucks and wish the good luck.

They sell that Spray on temp stuff at most auto stores...it's just like a black rubbery enamel that peels off later with no illeffects...

ok...im going to give you the best advice ever....

The more you worry about a car the more likely something is going to happen to it.

therefore you rent a car

if it gets dmged it will cost more to repair than to rent a car

painters tape is the best method
so is investing in a $8 can of temporary spray on bra for ur car
that thing works wonders and washes right off with soap and water
