Why? I'm serious. Why would someone spend $2000+ for these brakes. I'm assuming install will be a few hundred $'s

A race shop that once worked on my Eclipse swore by Stoptech brakes and EVERY person that I've ever talked to that had Stoptech's had absolutely no complaints.

Install won't cost me a dime. Just about an hour of my and my friends time.

Some people feel that the stock TSX brakes are inadequate. But my question is why pay $1800 when you can pay less than $1300 for the Rotora Brake Kit is the Stoptech kit worth the price difference?

First thing is Stoptech's Aero rotors. The inner vanes are setup in a way that keeps the rotors amazingly cool. Do five panic stops from 60-0 with stock brakes and try to touch the rotors. Not a good idea. Try doing it with Stoptech Aero rotors. No chance of 3rd degree burns. Because the rotors stay a lot cooler than most other rotors they virtually eliminate fade between pad and rotor, unless the rotor is on fire, lol. Warped rotors are almost non-existant with a Stoptech Aero rotor.

Thats why Stoptech rotors are better than Rotora's and even Brembo's.

Stoptechs calipers feature PERFECTLY sized pistons which PERFECTLY maintain brake bias front and rear. Its a big brake kit thats solely designed to be used with stock rear brakes. The fact that the pistons are perfectly matched for the bore size and master cylinder capacity mean that you won't have to deal with the badly uneven tire wear that has to be dealed with when any other big brake kits are used.

Stoptech is the only aftermarket brake company that perfectly matches the pistons in their calipers. Brembo doesn't, Rotora doesn't, Stillen doesn't, Baer doesn't, AEM doesn't and the list could go on and on.

Thats why Stoptech calipers are a lot better than any others.

Combine the calipers with the AMAZING rotors and you've got one hell of a combo.

You're telling me that stop-tech is better than every other brake company out there and that those other brands don't do the exact same thing as stop-tech...I find that hard to believe that Rotora, Brembo, etc. spend crazy amounts of money for R&D and don't make a good brake, or equate to Stop-tech for that matter.

Brembo. I think of Brembo and I think of Ferrari ; Lamborghini ; Porsche ; McClaren.

In my opinion with Brembo your paying for the name. Their brake kits that come stock on the above mentioned cars are great because the total brake system is being designed together. When Brembo makes an aftermarket kit they're not considering EVERY aspect of the brake system.

How did the $2,000 brakes contribute to the resale of your 01 Eclipse? I'm going to guess $200.

For one thing, if one plans on tracking their TSX, the stock brakes aren't going to cut it. They will more likely exhibit unacceptable fade and if it happens to be a slower, tighter course, the stock rotors may overheat and warp, stock pads may chunk, not mention, the stopping power of the stockers are just plain lacking especially if one's goal is to approach a turn fast and brake late. Stoptech is an excellent company with outstanding customer service and their aftermarket brake systems are well-tested and designed for each specific application. I have a set on my S and it is one of the best mods I have done to it. At $1700 for the TSX application, it is a relative bargain considering the quality and performance gain. I hold stoptech in high regard and although I have no plans on installing a set on my TSX (no plans of tracking it), I will certainly be a repeat customer for a brake system on my next track car.

What on earth for? ...unless you just want a show car and the right to brag that you have 6-pots on your Honda. Seriosuly, 6-pots are overkill and by no means optimal. The stoptechs, spoons, or most other well-designed 4-pot aftermarket brake systems for the TSX are all anyone will ever need, and will likely be all the stopping power any tire you can fit in a stock TSX's wheel well can handle. Unless you have beefy supercar-wide tires to handle the extra stopping power, 6-pots will only be inducing mad ABS intervention. Plus, 6-pots will create a severe front-to-rear brake bias if you retain the stock rear brakes and may actually result in unfavorable real-world braking performance due to the imbalance. Lastly, 6-pots are probably too much for the stock master cylinder to begin with.

I still have my Eclipse! Wouldn't trade it in for the world. The RRE tuned JIC FLT-A2's make it just a truly amazing car.

Are the Stoptech calipers bigger than stock? Will it require upsizing your wheels?

That I will find out once I get a template from Stoptech to see if the TSX's kit will fit behind the stock wheels.

The question was ask but not sure it was completely explained. You won't see a decrease in stopping distance in street driving. Since the stock system has the power to lock the wheels through an entire panic stop from 100+ even a 4 wheel ceramic rotored 17" BBK won't decrease stopping distance. For that you need to look to wheel/tire/suspension items. (agreed the drop in unsrung weight might make a tiny difference). BBKs are mainly for track with a side helping of looks. You will likely get a slightly different feel, which depending on the BBK/lines/pads you may like or not.

As for touching the cool rotors after multiple 60mph panic stops don't be deluded by hype, even my crossdrilled 15"/14" Brembos on my M3 will melt your fingers after that abuse. BUT, this is OK and correct, if the rotors ran that cool after multiple panic stops you could NEVER keep them at proper operating temps on the track, you NEED heat with high performance pads for them to work properly! If they did run as cool as mentioned they would be useless for the track with aggressive pads.

Also as to "warped rotors" see what StopTech has to say about the subject:

Nighthawk... I'm very curious about your Volk wheels. Do you have a picture of your car on this site?
