what up Guys? I took my car to the dealer and to a private own shop to get a state inspection done. They told me that, they won't do it unless I remove my smoked tail lights or get a new sets. Anybody ran into this problem be4?

You could ask someone you know with illegal tints where they go to get their car inspected.

 

In general it's true because it obstructs the lighting being so bright so it's a safety issue. The laws depend on states though so I would either get an extra set of lights and swap em in and out yearly or you can find someone who will pass you for some pocket cash and just be on your way.

 

Not to sound like an ass but I'm glad that both shops denied you the inspection.

It's a safty issue as sortudo states. You know that if you are involved in a rear end accident and they can prove that the smoked lights caused the driver of the other car not to see you stopping you could be held liable for the accident? It also applies to people who replace the bulb with LED lights the size of a quarter and those that replace the lights with Altezza lights. If it doesn't state DOT compliant on the item you are purchasing you are asking for trouble.

Last week I was behind a latest generation Celica with Altezza or similar light. On top of making it hard to see the light, he had his night lights on so I could barely see the lights coming on when he was braking. I really felt the urge to get out my car and bust his light out....I was really annoying.

 

Smoked tails are ugly, they're doing you a favor.
