splicing wires
splicing wires
when i installed my fogligts is it ok to splice the wires into the parking lights i was just wondering if that was safe. if not then i guess i'm just gonn have to do it the other way.
There's the obvious of making sure there's no chance of a bare wire getting exposed (and shorting to ground), and that it is protected from water infiltration, You would want to make sure whatever type of connection you used is rated for the amount of current the foglights will be drawing. Also, check the fuse rating on the parking light circuit. Foglights I'd expect will draw a lot more current than parking lights, and you wouldn't want your fog light use to blow the fuse and take out your parking lights.
These are just general suggestions, others might know more TSX specifics.

No, they are different wattages. The fogs are 55W and the parking lights are lesser I believe. Also, direct wiring into that line can be dangerous if the switch fails. In the OEM configuration, they use a relay to bridge the electricity vs what you want to do is use the switch. Not saying you can't do what you want with this, but it isn't the safest method.
