Spare Key..
Used the search function and didnt get to much luck.
My GF ( her car) keeps a spare key around the house and at work, can we just get a blank cut? and not use the remote, I assume there is someone to disarm the alarm when using the key only...
I'm not looking for any upgrades yet on the key, just something spare ( and cheap) she can keep in her purse or wallet in case keys get locked in car.

Let me help you!
The chip in the key communicates with the immobilizer through the ignition switch. If you're not starting the car, you don't need a synched chip. The immobilizer, after all, is only meant to immobilze the vehicle (e.g., so that it can't be driven away). It doesn't protect the vehicle from unauthorized entrances by thieves (that's what aftermarket alarms are for, but they don't protect...they just announce ;-P).

Getting a blank cut would only allow you to unlock the car; you wouldn't be able to start the car without having a dealer-made key which includes a transponder chip. I assume you already knew that. Turning the key to open the door should disarm the alarm (I think; never tried it).

but if they really wanted to steal something they would be smart enough to disarm that alarm before they do anything because they would see the blinking light in ur car, so they are assuming you have alarm, so they would disarm that first before doing anything further and getting caught
