Thumbs up soon to be TSX owner...

I am in love with an 05 certified TSX - 8k miles, dealership demo, mint, AT, charcoal/gray, no navi. I don't want to let my heart cloud my judgment. Any experts out there who can tell me how much I should expect to pay? Thanks!

Question

well, including destination, new TSX's around here (dallas area) are stickered at around 28500 including destination (for same options).

I know the TSX holds its value well. Also, I'd be getting a warranty boost b/c it's certified - (extra 1 yr, 12000 miles ltd warranty for a car that's 6 months old w/ 8k miles).

But at the same time, my gut tells me that 8k miles and used vs. new should equate to more than a ~$800 price difference and a warranty boost. How 'marked-up' are these Edmunds prices???

People are getting brand new '06 at $26,000 plus TTL

$26,000 - $600 destination - $1000 (8k miles is alot) = $24,000 . That's how much I would be willing to pay (plus minus a few hundred). I think $24,500 is a fair price.

here's what I have come up with:

-Go to Kelly Blue Book online (KBB.com) and put in all the info.
-Price it as Retail:
-$29,755
-then as Private Party:
-Excellent $27,195
-Good $25,675
-$23,700
-Then as Trade-In:
-Excellent $24,750
-Good $23,350
-$20,955

The dealership buys at wholesale
This means that they buy at Trade-IN value or less (usually the "fair" catigory of Trade-in)

they wont sell it to you at this price.....but just nknow whatever deal you get they are still making a killing!!!

GOAL:
Shoot for the "Fair to Good" range of Private Party.
Start low and work your way up.

I'd say if it was my money...... I would not go for more then $25,675.
So anything under this number is a "GREAT Deal"!

Remember that you dont have buy anything, and if they wont deal, then leave.....

Good luck!!!!

Viper, Nin, Thanks... this is the kind of solid knowledge I was looking for - I'm more prepared to hammer out a good deal. I appreciate the help!

Are you planning to modify it? Just know that the 05 AT is the only model that hondata has not released the reflash for.

Cool We Have A Deal!

Too late....just made a deal. 25k even. I'm happy. I think I used my modest negotiating capabilities to their peak.

To all TSX owners, what do you think? Who should be happier right now... me or the dealer???

Either way, WONDERFUL CAR.

Thanks for tip the jlukja. 2 questions for you-

Is there reflash in the works for the 05 AT?

I'm a novice when it comes to mods... how would installing reflash affect the warranty (if at all)?

1. The best that hondata can say is that they are working on it. They have cracked the ECU code on both the AT & MT for 04 and 06 and for the 05 MT. My opinion is that they continue to work on it and it will come sooner or later.

2. Generally speaking it will void the warranty only if it leads directly to a failure. So for warranty work that has nothing to do with the reflash you are covered. South Coast Acura is a hondata dealer here in Southern California and one member has gotten his reflash through them. This Acura dealer said that it will not void the warranty if the warranty work is done at this Acura dealership. So far I have not read of any problems associated with the reflash where the dealership has refused to do warranty service.

its sounds like your on the money!! good work!
I see 04's advertised for $26,800 to $27,900. with/ out NAV with twice the miles you got yours with. I'd never pay that much! but still some people do.

Anyways....sounds like you did great. Congrads!

If you ever do mods, let me know.

Side note: I will be getting an 06 sometime in the next month or so (mabye in June).
Wish me luck......

2005 MDX touring with NAV
and
1997 Pontiac Sunfire
and
1989 Toyota pickup
and
1990 Subaru Legacy

I have one vehicle for each season (except the MDX)
THe rest are almost valueless so no point in unloading.....and
Truck moves my quad....
Sunfire needs to just go...
Subaru is for bad winters (dont want to get hit in the MDX)

Sorry bout the details, but when I say 4 vehicles people always ask...why?

Anyways I plan on modding the 06 TSX, but much....
Cold Air intake, mabye "REFLASH" by Hondata, and of course Wheels!
I dont want a rice rocket, but faster 0-60 would be nice!

Anyways add me to your buddies list and hit me back with updates.
Enjoy your sweet ride!!
