Some TSX drivers=Bad Attitudes

So here I am, making a left on Pathfinder from Fullerton Road in La Puente if you are familiar. I see a Carbon Gray TSX, and basically having the same car, I decide to see if this guy is a AZer, maybe if he's DJDZ. He's got a personalized license plate AKAI 309 and he's an Asian guy about my age. So I'm following him for a couple of miles down Pathfinder - looks like he's headed to my area.

When I get a chance to pass, I decided to give him the thumbs up.....it wasn't a ricer flyby type pass, since I have my kid in the car. Thats all I did, gave this AXE-WHOLE a thumbs up, 'nice car'-type of thing. He gets behind me, shines his highbeams and I think cool, slow up see if he wants pull over and chat.....but the tough guy pulls a ricer flyby, pulls in front of me and brakes HARD. Cuts me off as if I flipped him off or something. Here I am with my kid in my car, braking and trying to give the 'hey now, cool down' peace sign to this dimwit. I keep my distance, let him go his way and I see him turn on the street that leads to my tract....great...I think for a second that I should follow this bonehead and do something about it, but I look in the mirror and my 2 year old daughter makes me think things over.....

Anyways, I writing this about 15 minutes after this isht happened.....WHAT KIND OF FAWKING ATTITUDE IS THAT? Is it just like that here in SoCal, where you automatically assume the worst?

Sorry to hear about what happened, that guy is just an idiot. But I usually give thumbs up or nods to TSX drivers that seem to be enthusiast or AZers. If you ever see a Satin Silver TSX with TL wheels its me! I frequently travel on Pathfinder, Golden Springs, and Brea Canyon Rd.

Do you have dark window tint? Maybe he thought you gave him the finger.

where's the love?

that's ok, same thing happened to me when i driving with my gf at the time, cause we were visiting a friend. then there was a SSM TSX behind me who was following too close and the guy overtook me and looked at us with a pissed off look and just kept overtaking all these other cars. no thumbs up or nod. this was a few months ago. this was around the aurora/naperville area.

No, but maybe he thought I gave him a sarcastic thumbs up? I thought thumbs up was pretty universal...'cool car, we have the same one'. It's like wearing the same shirt as someone else....I don't hate you for it.

Come to think of it, he was acting pretty weird though; everytime I would change lanes, he would change with me.....I would clearly signal, and he'd move for no reason.

I thought I left this kinda stupid crap behind with my Integra.

I have to wonder is it only us honda folk that experience this? Are all other makes like this? My wife drives a Saturn VUE, and she got a thumbs up or a wave by every blue haired old lady or old man that drove a VUE.

Cool man....I'll look for you. I won't flyby you with the kid on my car either, and besides that I think you'd beat my a$$ with the mods you have. I still will automatically assume that all TSXers are cool.

This makes me think we should have some sort of identifying decal or license plate frame. At least we know a thumbs up won't become some declaration of war (i know this has been shot around, but this makes me think we should make it happen).

Sorry about your bad experience. Sucks that the guy is an AZ member (NOT an AZer!)

??

This is an open forum, and the whole thing is probably just a big misunderstanding as the result of ill-communication.

But yeah, sorry to hear about the incident, Earl. But it appears there could be a meet at around your neighborhood alone. That's cool.

I agree. If I see the guy again, I wouldn't have a problem. I'm just not that type of person. It just really caught me off guard that my kind gesture turned into the guy hard brake-checking me. Had to vent, you know?

HEY, post #100 for me! First off, I would like to thank God, because with him all things are possible, shot out to my wife, my kid....

Nah, 27 years now, LA driver for 14 years. But I thought I left that type of attitude/recklessness with my Integra or even my Civic. He didn't have to fly by and brake check me, it was uncalled for.

And Im not happy when I get threatened like this when my offspring is the car either, you know?

Well, you can't expect everyone to be happy go-lucky fellow TSX owners. Some people don't care for any interaction with you and just want to go along their business. Granted, what he did was a bitch move, just got to realize that not everyone is out to meet and greet fellow TSX drivers.

Don't give up on all TSX'ers. Some hot chick at my work drives a silver one and the other day I was leaving and saw her driving out. Before I know it, she got along side me and was giving me the smile then the wave . DAMN, Sometimes I wish I wasn't married.

I have noticed that female TSX drivers never ever give a wave or beep or flick of the headlights in recognition. Well maybe they do to guys but never has another female given any sign to me. Guys on the other hand will always flick lights and I always do when i see another TSX, especially if its a kid or someone who has done something with it. I don't know about other parts of the country but everyone i see driving a TSX is like in their 40s and 50s, so im excited when i see a kid

I dont ever give a thumbs up because of the assholes out there like this one. If I see another TSX, I will just wait until they attempt it first.

Some people could care less. Their just not fanatics like we are...

Alot of us owners were former Civic/Teg owners, but at least in my OLD civic, whenever I'd see a white 4dr '90 civic, I give the nod and get the nod back, everytime! Same for my Teg.... when it's exactly the same car, I expect some sort of camraderie.

Joerockt you're right though, I just won't gesture anymore unless they make the first move.

You burst his bubble. Up to the time he saw you he thought he was the only CGP in the world.

but that would've meant he bought his car only five minutes before the encounter.

eh, i think it was just an asshole driver who happens to own a tsx. most tsx drivers i've seen don't seem to be enthusiasts of any kind. i've only seen one modded one and one with the oem kit/spoiler on the road, the rest are all stock.

Don't let that A-hole get to you man. Yeah, in diamond bar and surrounding areas, there are a lot of ricers. Young ricers too with high end cars or heavily modded honda/acuras who think they're the s**t. Makes me wonder how the hell they make money (figuring it's from wealthy folks).
You made the right move by not doing anything else further; thinking of your child.

Of all the cars I've owned, the coolest owners seem to be 300ZX owners. I've always gotten positive responses when I've given them the thumbs up. Even back when I was a dumb ass and use to street race, when I beat another Z, the other guy would still be cool and give the thumbs up or ask to pull over and talk cars.

I've never gotten anything close to the same response w/ any of the other cars I've owned. Sadly, I would say 95% of the TSX drivers I see around my area are women w/ stock TSXs who do not seem to even notice other TSXs.

That's why we need those Acurazine stickers ASAP. That's the only sticker I'll put on my TSX. I rarely try to wave, cause I figure the chances of them being an AZine member are pretty slim.

yup...

i agree.

i can't tell if they're rich or not, but if i were to look at them, i would have to assume that they are.

"most" may be too many. i think "some" may be appropriate.

Be careful with hand gestures. The same gesture can have different meanings in different cultures. For example, the "thumbs up" can also be an "up yours" gesture.

It is my understanding one should not make the okay (the 'O') gesture in Europe.

Probably because you were in his way. Can't really believe an M3 owner was behind you to race.

If you were driving a Prius and in the same lane, he'd have done the same.... basically he wanted you to move.

Wrong. My best friend is a rich asian kid. Like super super super rich. He's the nicest guy in the world and doesnt care about money. His parents got him an MDX? I said you "could have ask for a Ferrari you know"

he said, "just a stupid car"

So dont say rich asian kids are the worst when my buddy is the best person on earth.
