Unhappy So glad I got the mp3 player...NOT.

What a waste of space...

I guess it was MY fault for not doing more research, but geeze.. You'd think the thing would AT LEAST display the tag info (Title/Artist). But nooooo... It calls folders "disks" and each song is a track. So if you figure 215 songs per CD, it'd be kinda hard to figure out what's where...

Oh, you can change the backlit button color between green and amber with the push of a button (the ONLY button, BTW).

Ohwell - my - save the $$ and burn your mp3s to CDs for the 6-disc changer and don't loose the storage space up front.

Sucks to hear that you don't like it man.

You can take it out and sell it though. Hopefully the dealership gave you the storage bin after they took it out.

Yeah, I had them keep the parts for me. I'll give it a month or two and see if my opinion changes...

:killer: I just noticed on the manual - it's copyright date is 2002! That may explain the lack of technology. Middle-Jurrasic I do believe...

Better yet, burn them on CD-RW (the changer can play those) so don't have to keep piles of CD-R's (aka cup coasters) with passe collections.

My changer is loaded with at least 2 CD-RW's at one time and I re-write them with different compilation of songs as I feel like

I kinda like my way too though...

powered by this DVD player:

heres the MP3 Root Menu, and folders list:

and an added bonus, DVD's :-)

Cool thing is that since I got my DVD Burner, I can burn a 'DVD data disk, which is basically a DVD full of MP3s, that the DVD player will recognize. I basically have every song I own on 4 DVDs, in an easy to navigate menu interface.

but aren't you worried about jack-ass seeing your screen and try to jack your system when you park on street or in a lot or something?

What is SHOND3 by the way? What's it for?

Can you do a DIY write-up on how you did it? Is the DVD player a 12volt machine??? The screen as well? Thanks!

Nice setup man ^^
I like how you relocated the 12v power adapter.

I have an mp3 setup too. My Pioneer N1 plays mp3 discs, but I also have a portable video player hooked up to my screen that holds 80 gigs of Video and mp3s.

That is really cheap. My setup definitely cost more than that.

What is the make/model of that DVD player?
Does it have a TV tuner by chance?

jus the normal DVD player.

The screen I selected, has a dual input. so if I ever wanted to add a naviagion system to the screen, I could. Works well on long trips, I pop in a DVD and watch as I drive. (Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale, a lot of wide open roads, dont worry I'm not being careless at the wheel)

TSX536, I love your setup, my only gripe about it is I hate flip out screens. In my experience they've been too flimzy and easy to break.

the DVD Player is a Blaupunkt DVD-ME2.... If I opted to pay for the ME-3, it would have included a TV Tuner. (In hindsight, I probably would ahve done it)

the Screen is a Farenheit (Power Acoustik) 5.8" -- Not the greatest brand but they've got good customer service and I haven't had a problem with it yet, have had the setup a little over a year.

Best part, for me is that it looks factory, like it belongs there, doesn't look all modified. And the angle is perfect for the driver to view it.

If I could do it again and I had the money to blow, I would have probably tried to find a touchscreen that would fit in there for a future Navigation addition. But I figured what the hell it was $180, its in good shape, I figured if I ever cared to do the upgrade I could probably get at least $80 for it used on E-bay and I've definitly gotten my money's worth until I can afford to add a Pioneer Navi to it at some point.

Thanks for the info man. Thatz a cool DVD player since it can play DVDs with mp3s on them.

Yeah, I was worried about the longevity of the flip out screen. I haven't had any problems yet though. I listen to Sirius a lot, so I don't drive with it open all of the time anyway. Hopefully that will help make it last.

I really like being to hide the screen. At night it's super bright and half the time I don't like that bright screen in my eyes. Especially when I'm coming home on the late night. Looks like you can do the same thing with your setup.

yea the screen has a dimmer, so I can turn down the brightness/contrast....

The DVD player can play the audio without the screen on, so if I really dont want the screen on I can select my song and turn it off, and the DVD player will still play.

DO you think the space that youput your LCD will fit a double DIN unit? If so, I think I might get the eclipse NAVI.

It looks like it would fit. The only thing I would be concerned about is the depth of the Double DIN unit. Depending on the how long/deep the HU is and also the angle you mount it at, it may or may not hit the OEM Amp.

Hey maybe you guys can clarify this to me, but from what I've been reading on this site, if I have an '05 (with Navi) and want to keep XM, I can't use the SHOND3 ? I'd like to keep the functionality of everything though.

Somebody here did an awesome set up, but here's what I would want is to possiblity place a single DIN deck that has DVD, mp3, etc...capabilities, and if possible, somehow connect to the screen for use...but like I said, i need all functionality as I do use the Navi quite a bit. If the screen can't be used on the Navi system, then I'll just go with a non-DVD deck, but still I don't want it to sound too much like sh*t, the system right now already sounds like crap.

^^ Here you go, check out this thread
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17523

Go to the a/v section and you will see that there are a lot of NavToDVD converters out. They are also talking about a possible solution for the 05 owners to add an AUX input, but still keep XM.

That unfortunately is an '04 and I don't like two screen setup. But good idea.

This will be promising, although still I don't think I'll ever be able to play DVDs on the factory screen by using this setup.

Here you go man. This will let you watch DVDs on the factory screen.
Not too bad, it's about a buck fifty.
