Slim

Is there any way to having a slimmer spare key that i can put in my wallet in case of a lockout? The keys are way to thick to put in there. My friend with an 03 g35 has a key so slim, that it fits in a card that goes in wallet. That amazed me and i want something slim too, now.

Nope. Just go to a local lock smith and have an extra key cut. It won't work on the ignition, but at least it'll let you get in the car.

Doesn't AAA make those plastic copies? Or have they stopped those since my last visit a few years ago? I remember they looked like credit cards with a key cut into it, or something like that.

I did alot of searches for "wallet key", and many people mentioned AAA. They can't do it for every model, but for the ones that they can do, it saves AAA money and work when people don't have to call for a tow truck.

I think there might be a fee for it. I already e-mailed them earlier this morning about it, so we'll see in 48 hours if they still do it.

wouldn't the alarm go off if you just open the door with a key and not with the remote?

The lock cylinder is tied to the alarm system so the turning of the key in the cylinder disables the alarm. The chip in the key only applies the engine immobilizer in the ignition.

I remember my families 2000 honda odyessy my dad made a sare key it lasted about 8 months, till the key got warmed into the ignition. The key snapped at the top of the head.

It was a pain in the butt to get out, thats the immobolizer for you.

haha yea but the purpose of this key is just to get back in the car to get your real key back. dont expect any of these spare keys to go into the ignition and work. the g35 impresses me though. i dont think there is any kind of chip inside the key because it is so slim so i think thats a downside but oh well.

Yeah, not so much. My remote didn't work to unlock the car yesterday, so I turned the key in the lock. That definitely set off the alarm when I opened the door, and it turned some heads because that thing is *loud.* Or louder than my last car, at least.
