Rotor rusting?

Man, it was pouring cats and dogs yesterday here in TN and when I was just walking to my car at the office parking lot, I don't know what made me look at my sexy beast's tires, but I was aghast at seeing that all 4 of my rotors had rust color on them!

So, I little-fingered a swab and yup, indeed, there was a coating of rust on the rotor plate (point where the brake shoes touches the metal) on the exterior - it's probably on the interior side too. It's like someone spray painted a coating of orangey-red layer on all four of my rotors.

What's up with THAT?!

Don't worry about it. Its normal. The rust will go away once you drive it.

A couple braking sessions, and they're gone. Nothing wrong.

Totally normal. I like to brake a little before really going on the road to take off the rust. I don't like going into traffic knowing that coating's on there. Just try not to too worked up aboutall that scraping noise while it's wearing off.

The rotors are iron. You can actually watch them rust before your eyes when they get wet.

There aren't any. They all rust. Some hi end cars, like on the GT3, have ceramic rotors, but you're not going to find them for a TSX, much less afford them.

my mistake, the aftermarket rotors have a rust-free "coating". i would imagine drilled rotors would look like shit once they start rusting. anyone had this happen to them?

Drilled rust? Horrible. Not to mention all the cracking. This isn't on my car though, it's on my brother's supra. Cross drilled rotors and they have rusted+cracked to hell. It looks like piles of mud stuck all over the rotor that isn't part of the braking surface. I'm never gonna buy drilled, EVER!
