OMG you're gonna die!!!!
You'll be fine. Many people don't adhere to the break-in procedure at all and they don't seem to have any trouble. I still like to break-in my cars according to the manual but an occasional trip above 5000rpm isn't going to cause any harm.

In fact, there is a unorthodox school of thought that believes that breaking in the engine without feathering it (meaning reving the engine as you would during normal driving) is the best way to go. I'm not positive on its legitimacy, but there are interesting explanations regarding it (ie better piston ring sealing).

I don't believe it's a good idea to never go over 5000rpm for the break-in period and then rip into the rev limiter the next day. I gradually work over that 5000rpm limit over a couple weeks.

a friend of mine is a mechanic, and he can take any honda apart and put it back together, tranny, motor swaps, turbo, etc. you name it he can do it. and his advice to me was to quickly get the rpm's up to 3000 and shift quick, making the rpm's jump quickly up to about 3k, and shift. he said that it'll be best for my gears, and the engine. i'm not sure exactly what it does, but i tried it out, and still no problem.s

The break in period doesn't say anything about the revs. As long as you aren't at WOT it says you are fine. I know I spun the engine to 5000 rpms more then once in my break in period but I tried to keep it under 4500. I also took my time after the 600 miles, to work up the rpm range. You are fine, don't worry about it.

Honda rips the sh1t out of random engines then installs them into cars, yours maybe one....break in is a myth from days gone bye.
I've beat the crap out of my Accord's since 16mi on the clock.
Still has like new compression and performance at 62k mi.

A while back ClutchPerformer posted an excellent discussion on engine break-in. Thought it might be useful to link it here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1443
