replace rear brakes with aftermarket but oem still on the front?

Is there any issue with replacing your rear brakes with aftermarket pads while keeping oem pads on the front? My rear pads are ready to be replaced, and I want to upgrade to hawk pads and possibly new rotors in the back. Would I run into any problems upgrading the rear brakes but waiting to replace the front oem brakes? My fronts have a good amount of life on them still...

You'll be fine. It'll just "look" funny if you have slotted rotors (should you choose to go that route) in the rear, with OEM rotors up front.

The car has a 70/30 F/R brake bias, so most of your braking is taken care of with your front brakes. Just make sure to match them to the rear when it's time.

Thanks princely. I did some searching, and many people have done this, but there's little consensus on whether or not I should turn my oem rotors when I get the new pads. Thoughts?

Whenever you replace your brake pads, you should resurface the rotors. However, there is a HIGH chance that your turned rotors will warp. It's happened to many people, including me.

Do what I did, new rotors (Brembo blanks, yea they rust, but so what) and Hawk Ceramics...fronts barely worn and still stock but warped. I'll give in and change the fronts soon...

I'm thinking of going with centric premium rotors in the back (have the black anti-rust coating) and a set of hawk ceramics. I guess I'll just do the front oem's when they wear out!

Hawk pads work well, but they'll most likely squeak.
