Thumbs down Rearended by an unlicensed driver?

You bet!! Sucks to be me!! I was driving up 395 North in DC this past Tuesday -- I was merging over towards the far left to go where I need to go -- the traffic in front me began to stop -- so I stopped.

Unfortunately for me -- the guy behind me did not feel the need to stop!!!!!

It was a 3 car "pile up" -- a honda accord hit me from behind and I hit an XTerra in front of me. It sounded A LOT worse than it actually was.......

PICS

Things to be repaired/replaced:

Exhaust replaced from the cat back
New hood
New front and rear bumpers
New grill
New headlights
Repair interior of trunk (dented in)
etc....but not anything major.....

I am pretty upset to say the least -- after dealing with a VW lemon last year, I was really hoping for a hassle-free 2007!!!

Oh -- I forgot the funny part -- 2 guys in the car behind me got arrested at the scene. One for not having a driver's license -- and I am not sure about the other. The officer was smiling from ear to ear.......

Anyway -- I am worried about the paint matching up -- but other than that I am confident that the shop will do a good job. I am traveling to Africa for work over the next 2 weeks -- so I am depending my my cousin and my mom go check out the repairs and pick the car up when it is done.

Bah!!!!!!!!!!

Yuck, that really sucks. I hope everything works out for you. At least you'll be away and won't have to look at it all banged up.

I tried not to look at it for the hour that I had it in my possession after the accident -- in fact, when I called the body shop the guy asked if I had even "looked at my car" because of the way I was reacting to his description of the damage.

I havent even seen the shop where it is being repaired!! It is about 30-40 mins from my house -- was recommended by my dealership and the employees there. I have had a good experience with them on the phone so far -- and they are not rushing the job, yet they are not dragging their feet either -- they will be right on 14 days when it is done. Pretty average I would think.

You are lucky.

I got rear ended by the guy. Got the license and insurance and everything. The damn guy lied to his insurance that someone else hit him from behind and then he hit me. His insurance spent 4 months to look for the invisible 3rd person. And they finally decided not to pay for my car because it was not their guy's fault.

Damn! Learn something new everyday!!! If there is a chance that I rear end somebody in front of me, I will tell my insurance the same thing!!!

That really sucks! At least the driver was arrested... that's unusual to see after an accident.

Yep -- it made things pretty exciting. At least I knew that I probably wasn't the one having the REALLY bad day!! I figure that he probably was an "illegal" as well -- not too sure what happens to them when they break the law -- I sort of doubt they get deported, but you never know.

I really hope the car is good as new too -- I havent ever had to take ANY of my vehicles to a body shop -- I am usually a pretty defensive/offensive driver as is needed around here! My confidence has been slapped in the face for right now -- I have been pretty nervous behind the wheel of my Jeep. But -- at least I know I wont be the one suffering the damage if someone hits me in the Jeep!!!
