I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the parts i see on the craigslist ad for a yakima roof rack/bike system?

Looks like the towers, maybe the Q-clips, but you'll have to get new Q-clips anyway (unless they also drive a TSX). Also looks like two stand-up bike racks, not my favorite type but they were popular for a while - you don't take any wheels off so the bike sits pretty high.

I'd start with an offer of $150 for all of that used, depending on condition, but maybe higher. This stuff is quite pricey brand new. If they're nearby (and this is Craigslist so I'm assuming they are) go look at the stuff and make sure all the parts are there. You might be able to sell the existing Q-clips on craigslist yourself.

Look into how much two pairs of Q-clips will cost you before you buy - go to the Yakima site and look up the TSX. IIRC, new ones will be ~$100 (and that's just for four small pieces of pressed steel!).

I have this system for my TSX, it's not on the car now but I've used it in the past. It's a nice setup.

Good luck with the purchase!

hey thanks for the reply. I also got some more pics from the seller.

And the cross bars are 58". Is that too long for the tsx?

Hmmmm... going to http://www.yakima.com/, there's a link "Fit my Car" on the right...

Ok... weird, if I entered a 2008 it says there are only racks for the back, which is total BS since the '06 (my year) is the same as the '08...

Choosing "Q-Towers" base system... it's $265 new, which I would assume includes Q-clips...

Looks like those bike mounts are $100 apiece new...

So he's asking $250 for about $465 worth of stuff. Not bad I guess.

How much for just the Q-clips (which you'll almost certainly need)... oh that's not bad, you need Q5 for the front ($30) and Q83 for the back (another $30).

It suggests 48" crossbars, and a 44" fairing. I'm almost positive I've got 48" bars but have a 50" fairing, because I wanted a little more coverage. I think the 58" crossbars will fit but they might hang over a little. I'd go see it and put it over the car and see if it's livable. If you wanted to just get the 48" crossbar it's $60, and sell the 58" ones along with the original Q-clips.

Edit: oh yeah, DON'T FORGET THE LOCKS - they are another $45 bucks, make sure they are included.
