Question for Hawk brake pad owners
Did you guys use the shims from the OEM brakes when you swapped them for the Hawk's? I think the pads comes with a small shim, is that correct?
I had a shop put in the front pads for me and ever since I've been getting this squeaking noise when I first release the brakes. Today I noticed that the pads didn't have a shim on it like the backs ones did (which I put on myself). Is this going to cause any problems other than the noise?

I'm not too sure. I think the shop that installed mine used the shims. I get squealing when I press on my brakes, but haven't had any problems in the 20k miles I've had them on.

I think they do but they are supposed to go between the stock shims and the pad. The ones they come with are really thing copper dealies that are supposed to deaden the vibration that causes the squealing. The stock shims are much more substantial.
This is not first hand knowledge mind you, just what I've read.
