Protecting Rims

Hi all,

I want to protect my rims with something more than wheel locks (see "wheel locks" thread below) and was searching google and could only find those wheel "boots" that police use to immobilize your car.

Is there anything else besides wheel locks that I can use?

Thanks,
Jonathan

That a good question I just bought some new rims like 2 months ago and I would
like to put some thing else besides just wheel locks on mine also since they seem that even with the locks on the wheels they some how find a way to steal your rims regardless

All they need is to find a socket that'll fit over your wheel lock, and then "break" them off. If you lose your wheel lock, you can always go to a mechanic and have them break it off...they will warn you that the stud may break off though.

Unfortunately for you, if they really want your rims, they can get it. It's out in the open. Unless if you want to wrap each one together with chains or something lol.

Perhaps if you put airbags on your car and set it so that your car drops to the ground whenever you turn off the car...that way, there'll be no way for the thieves to put a jack or bricks/wood under your car.

My friend once put 5 different locks on each wheel. The thieves broke all of his studs
off and left his car on bricks. Poor guy couldn't even get it towed.

OUCH!! I just got a set of gorilla locks and they work pretty good. I took it to the tire shop acutally this weekend and it took the dude about 5 mins to get my first wheel off due to the lock and not being able to find a small enough head to get into the opening on the RJ Servo.....lol

I don't think there is much else you can do unfortunately...

Only other choice is to add an aftermarket alarm with a pager system. Also be willing to get shot at when you confront the thief for $500-$1000 worth of rims/tires.

tips
