Power steering rack leaking

Hi,

I have 2007 Acura TSX with 85000 miles on it and have no warranty. My car has an issue of power steering rack leaking. I am asked to replace rack and pinion. Dealer is charging 2100$ total.

Can you guys suggest how I should proceed now? Can I buy any extended warranty at this moment that covers rack and pinion replacement.

Thanks.

I just replaced one on my 2004. Also replaced the power steering pump came out to about 900 bucks all together for a rebuilt rack, pump and installation.

Find a local rack and pinion rebuilder and grab a rebuilt one and have a local indie mechanic replace it (make sure they are reputable)

Sorry for my late response. How about if I buy extended warranty and repair it. Since I already have 85000 miles on my car, I should expect few repairs showing up in coming years. So do you suggest me buying the warranty. I tried AAA and they are providing good coverage.

Please let me know your thoughts.

So you think someone is going to sell you an insurance policy and then allow you to file a claim on the policy for a pre-existing fault. Sounds unlikely.

good luck

Have you tried to reach out to Acura on this? A car's steering rack should not be failing at 85,000 miles. They should be paying for at least some of the cost of this repair.
