Please help, gf bought car with kit...

my girlfriend just bought a tsx with the factory kit. last wk, we took it out of town and we notice very loud noise coming from the side skirt. my question is, does the dealer use double sided tape and screw when they install it? or is this noise normal. the car is in the dealer right now and they said they can not fix the problem. any suggestions?

thanks.

I remmeber there bing an issue with the sideskirt being loose. Some people added washers to tighten the kit up.

Maybe someone can chime in.

No tape, there are some metal bolts and plastic push connectors that hold the kit to the body. Its likely that something fell off causing the side skirt to vibrate at high speed. take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix it. its just a matter to putting new bolts in. 5min job

I guess you can push on it throughout the length of the skirt.... sometimes they didn't push it in all the way and some of the plastic clips dont' click.... if you push it in and hear a 'click' then that's probably it...

The other thing I can think of is that they didn't install those little black foam washers that goes around those plastic clicks, causing the skirt to hit against the body, or perhaps the plastic piece that goes in the front of the skirt at the front wheel well.

in short, just take it back to the dealer

take it back to the dealer, don't put yourself through the trouble of fixing the problem, you DID buy it from them and they should take care of the noise for you

we did bring it back to the dealer. the master tech said he couldn't duplicate the noise so he couldn't fix it.

Just FYI, on the factory kit (for the '05), only the front and rear pieces had tape. You can get similar 3M tape at W*Mart if you need to. The side skirts, they just have locking tabs that are hard to describe. You might go to one of the online sites that sell OEM parts and download the instructions just so you can see how it works/fits.

I wonder if they missed something in the install. Like someone else said, maybe they didn't get one or more pegs clicked into place. I'd hate to try to fix it myself, though, since it should be their problem to fix. If you try fixing it yourself and then break it, then they definitely won't fix it for you (but charge more!).

Maybe find a better dealer? Good luck....
