passport x50 hardwire, mute button placement?

has anyone installed the passport x50 with the hardwire kit with the mute button?

I'm trying to decide where to put it. I saw a thread that someone worked it into one of the tabs to the right of the VSA button, but can't find that thread anymore. any other ideas?

There are two blanks near the VSA button, they are good places to drill holes but not great locations to reach while driving.

I would probably put it inside NOT AN ASHTRAY. Lot more work tho.

that's what I was thinking, but this doesn't have to do with audio or video.

Its more of a general electronics section, at least to me. I would guess your chances of getting a good response are better there than here

I think it would fit and look best next to the VSA button, but I've been thinking about it for a week and reaching for that spot while I'm driving. It's not easy to reach. Also thought about the "not an ashtray" but would have to leave that part open which is one of the reasons I got the hardwire kit. I think I'll just stick it next to the VSA and suck it up.

Any thought on re-wiring one of the homelink buttons?

I put mine inside the shift bag. You dont need to see it, you just need to get to it. All I used was a backstrap and some hotglue and its held pretty good. I placed it in the shift bag between the shifter and the cupholders.
