Paint?

Anyone having problems with the paint on these cars? I have a black TSX (yes I know black shows everything), and I finally got a nice weekend to really clean, wash, and wax the car inside and out. I noticed a lot of little nicks in the hood and front panels (it looks like someone specled white paint on the hood). I am sure that they are from the salt and rocks on the road this past winter but every car I've owned prior to the TSX has never had a problem this bad (my first car was 10 years old and the paint was pristine). I'd expect a few nicks here and there but not the amount that I have. I am assuming Honda was not that generous with the clear coat on the TSX because that is normally the first line of defense for nicks. WTF!!!!! I am so pissed. Any help??

I have the same problem. The problem started before the winter.

I havve some chips that went through to the metal. I don't know what kind of paint they're using; it doesn't offer much protection. I think I'm gonna get a nose mask.

I have the same problem with multiple paint chips in spite of having the 3M stoneshield applied over the hood's leading edge. It doesn't cover everything, unfortunately. The chipping is about as bad as my Volvo and much, much worse than my wife's Oddy. In the Volvo's case it's probably the result of using an "environmentally sensitive" paint process.

I don't know if anyone's explained why the TSX paint is doing this, are there any complaints about the new TL's paint yet?

yeah, i'm really dissapointed a how poorly this car handles rocks chips. there are several chips on my hood that have gone though the paint into the metal. i don't know if it is because the car has really bad paint or because of the aerodynamics of the car?:'(

Same problem with chipping paint...my pics are on that link too.

I'm also curious if it's the areo of the car as well... The front end does seem to slope down more than some other cars

Same here. Chips through to the metal all over the hood, on the roof in front of the sunroof, the front fenders and front doors as far back as the rear-view mirrors. My car's red and the chips really stand out.

Me too. More chips than I have had on any other car I have ever owned, and that is at 6K miles. I have made it to 90K miles on other cars with far fewer chips.

Seems like all colors are affected, so it must be a "process" function and not simply a bad paint issue.

So far, in general, the TSX is convicing me that my wifes next truck will be a RX330 and not an MDX.

got a PWP and 3k miles, 2/3 on highway. No chips visible, maybe I need to take a closer inspection, but I don't they would show up on a light color anyways.
