outside temp guage

Has anyone been successful getting your dealer to recalibrate the temp guage? Mine appears to be 4-6 degrees off (too high). I did notice when I had to reset my Maintenance Required indicator that in the process the temp guage would read & countdown from -4 to 0. I wonder if thsi ihow it is recalibrated? I could not find anything in the owners manual.

mine is always wrong too, but the temperature is the least of my worries with all the other problems. My car is going in for service this week and that is one of the many problems they are gonna try to fix. I will let you know how i make out

Please keep in mind that the temp gauge will always be incorrect when the car is started or has been sitting. It takes the car moving to accuratly measure the temp. It states this in the manual. Mine is fine.

That's correct. Recently, when I started that car in the garage, the outside temp gage was reading somewhere in the 70's. When I drove off, the temp was still reading in the 70's but the outside temp was around mid 60's. After about 1/2 mile or so driving, it finally read mid 60's.

Mine is slow to adjust, but once it does it reads pretty close... no more than a degree off.

What is everyone comparing this to? I have a digital thermometer in my house that I compare it to. FYI, if you're looking a the temp from a bank clock or whatever... those are never right. Once was driving and two banks next to each other had the temp reading... there was a difference of 6 degrees between the two.

The "Outside Air Temperature Indicator" adjustment is not described in the owner's manual, but is described in the service manual (p22-228) -- and you've found the secret press and hold of the reset button ...

1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Press and hold the reset select button for 10 seconds. While you continue to hold the button, the display will scroll through temperature settings from +3 to -3 (sequence 0, 1, 2, 3, -3, -2, -1).
3. When the desired correction value appears on the display, relesase the button, and the recalibrated outside air temperature will be displayed.

Example: True temperature +70 deg F; displayed value 68 deg F. Correction should be +2.

The manual also suggests removing the sensor (leaving it electricly connected) and submerging it into an ice water container to calibrate (very close to 32 F/0 C).

My experience is also that the initial temp reading after being parked is off, but the "after driving" value seems fairly accurate. But I'll try the true calibration check sometime.

The temperature guage inaccuracy doesn't bother me. I knew it was like off 2-4 degrees, but I am usually prepared for the weather and inside the comforts of my TSX to even bother.

Does anyone got it to display temperature below 0F? Will it display a minus temperature? The lowest temperature I ever read is 1F in my area.

That's what happen to me too. Reported outside temperature should be -5F but it only showed 1F (It slowly drop from parking garage 39F to 1F while I started to drive). Maybe the engine heat influences the sensor.
