outside temp guage.

anyone notice this with the outside temp gauge?...here's the scenario:

about 65 degrees outside. drove the car for about 20 minutes. parked it for about 30 minutes. came back out, started the car, the temp gauge read 95 degrees - took about 15 minutes before it cooled back down to the 'real' temp again.

is this normal? maybe i just never noticed before.

Mine hasn't done anything like that, it always seems close. The owner manual does say that when going slower than some speed (19mph if I remember correctly) that the temperature may not be accurate due to the heat from the car.

Yours is off by at lot though, and 15 minutes to come back to being close? I'd have the dealer check it out.

mine is frequently off for a bit after I first get into it, but never by 30 degrees

Once or twice, I've gotten in the car and it was very inaccurate when I first turned it one. However, it is pretty accurate once I get on the road, being very consistent with online sources.

thanks for the replies guys.

just went for a drive...came in for a while...then started the car again. looks like my 30 degree fluctuation was just a fluke...car started up again with the 'right' temp. i'll be paying more attention to this for a while just to see if it does it again.

you guys notice the tsx seems to cool down real slow?

mine's always been inaccurate. in fact I haven't even looked at it for about two months now. I hope it's still there.

This has been talked about before . . .

Also, is there anything that displays the inside temperature. I know the car has an inside thermometer which it uses to get the car to 73 or whatever you set the auto climate control to. But is there some readout somewhere which says what the inside temp actually is?

Quick answer: no.

Yes!! I think it's to do with the thick sound insulation under the hood. Probably helps with emissions, too, as the car will spend less time in the dirtier "cold start" mode in typical errand-running scenario.

the temperature gauge is rarely accurate, it's always off by a margin of 5 or less, so it really doesn't matter. however your's was quite extreme, don't know abo that..
