Ouch! Euro Accord as French taxi shock...
I just returned from Europe. I spent a couple of days in France and saw at least couple of Euro Accords as taxis!!! Ouch! I was initially rather annoyed, but then having seen that many of their taxis were actually MB E-class, I then started to feel much better :-) I guess they wanted a reliable and comfortable car so the Euro Accord was a good choice... and what lucky taxi drivers they have over there!

Outside of the US there's none of this image business as to what cars are taxis. There's also much less of the usual fleet sales to rental companies (i.e. Ford content at Hertz overseas is a lot less than in the US).
Here's the reason in Europe you'll find many E class as taxis: a 76 240D MB with 4.6 million km on the odo.

I have a pic that might help. It is not of a euro accord, but of an MB taxi pic I took in Italy this past summer (Taormina to be exact). I took the pic because I was the first MB I have ever seen with 6 doors (3 on each side)!!!!!!!!!!

In much of Europe the taxis tend to be diesels, for similar historical reasons.

Sorry, people! I should have taken a pic but didn't.... anyway, they were a darker grey color (was it CG?) and there was also side molding too (did not look good with it...). The wheels were definitely smaller and the rims were less attractive than ours...
