Was this offer too low?
Was this offer too low?
So I tried the "online quote" thing on my local Acura dealer's website (Hopkins Acura in Redwood City)
I offered 26.5K for a Navi 6MT TSX, here's my reply:
USED?!?! wow, was my offer that low? It's May, demand should be rather low right now! Especially since a more powerful TSX is coming soon.
I offered 26.5K for a Navi 6MT TSX, here's my reply:
Hi Samir,
Sorry I don't have any used TSX's with a 6-speed.
Regards,
Michael ANDREWS, Hopkins Acura

How long before you refinanced? 11.9% sucks BAD.

I've had a very hard time finding ANY 6MT TSXs in the dealer lots. Checked Hopkins Acura nd Acura of SUnnyvale.

So... yea... $600 below invoice on a car that's usually hard to find in stock.
Just a little low. I'd shoot for 27500 or maybe even a couple hundred below that. But nothing lower. Or try to get them to throw in some accessories like an OEM bodykit etc.../

Working in sales I often put myself in the salesperson shoes simply to see how I would react in a certain situation.
IMHO, I say that you would be more credible if you come in person to the dealership. Unless the dealership is desperate for mooving units, you will not get a good price over the internet (I think.)
If I was working for a dealership I would interpret a request like yours, as someone who wants my best price just to go out to the nearest dealership with it and buy the car over there (waste of my time). I sometimes send requests for a price but I know that there is no way that they will give me there best price up front. I think it's a matter of respect towards the customers who actually take the time to go to the dealership.
To get an OK price over the internet you have to say stuff like:"Your dealership is very close to my house", "I am very serious in signing for this car before the end of this week", "I was refered by one of your current customers", "I heard that you had the best service in the region", or anything else to sound more interested.
I am saying that you MIGHT have been able to negociate with the sales manager to something very close to your offer had you gone in person.
Good luck!

I personally think they are still behind due to that train wreck. They'll eventually make up for those units though.

Hmm.. thanks guys, I'll try again. I'm pretty open to color choices, but I would like a 6MT/Navi. I'll also tell them that I'm interested in financing instead of only paying in cash.
