Is this normal?

Well I've noticed this for a few weeks, but didn't want to post until I was sure I was noticing this correctly.

About 3 weeks ago I had my car in Park, and left it running. I got out and did whatever I was doing, but I happenend to be by the back of the car. Anyway, I decided to put my hand over the drivers side exhaust muffler tip. I could feel the exhaust coming out and it was HOT. Then I walked over to the passanger side exhaust muffler tip, but this time, the exhaust coming out wasn't nearly as hot, actually it was barely warm at all. I didn't pay to much attention, but ever couple days I'll put it in park, leave it running, and walk around and do this. Everytime, same thing, the air coming out of the drivers side exhaust is hot, and the air coming out of the passanger side exhasut is barely warm. Is this normal? I've done this after driving 10mins, and after driving over an hour, same results.

I have Comptech Cat Back. In case this makes a difference I have Injen CAI/Comptech Headers/ RT CAT/ and the Comptech CB.

I seem to remember someone saying they noticed when there car was idiling, and it was cold enough to see the air coming out of the exhaust, that it looked like most if not all was coming out from the drivers side exhaust. Not sure if that would explain why the air coming out is MUCH hotter on the driver side, but thought I should mention it.

Anybody else notice this? Anything to be worried about. For any of you guys with the comptech cb, or any dual muffler cat back, next time your car is idiling, walk around and see if you notice it.

Thanks for any input. I'm sure I've got nothing to worry about, and I'm sure there is a logical explanation, that's why I'm throwing it out.

Thanks!

Actually I think the driver side's muffler is closer than the passenger side's muffler. They don't split at exactly the middle.

So i think what your saying is the piping is longer to get to the passenger side muffler from the headers/car than to the drivers side muffler right? I guess if there is more pipe for the exhaust gas to go through, it might make sense that by the time it gets to the passenger side exhaust, it has already cooled down some

I asked something similar about my CT exhaust a little while ago. Here's the thread:

I checked on a stock 2007 TSX today. Uniform flow of hot exhaust from both sides.

Yeah that's exactly it. If you look under the car you can see the the pipes have different lengths.

Perhaps, but with the stock setup it makes no difference -- similar exhaust flow at similar temperatures out of both pipes.

Indeed... even with little pressure (with the car idling), exhaust gases come out of both mufflers.

if you were running a single tipped exhaust there wouldn't be a problem

i always wondered why honda put a dual exhaust on the s2k and the tsx

1 exhaust manifold should = 1 exhaust pipe

It is essentially a cosmetic decision to use two exhaust outlets. There is certainly little or no operational purpose.

People are always adding less restrictive exhaust systems as a simple performance mod, and in this case the dual exhaust has literally twice the flow capacity as half the system would.

I don't know what actual difference this makes in performance, though.

there's no gain to the dual exhaust on the s2K and TSX, it's one pipe out of the header and splits at the rear axel with a "Y" collector. It's pure looks.

and the split in Y pipe is what is causing the OP's problem

if you were running a single outlet exhaust then there wouldn't be this problem

What's OP's?

I'm debating ditching my comptech exhaust and going j's racing or something! I want the best performance, I'm going to have to look into a single canister exhaust.

So anybody else notice temp difference between mufflers?

my wish list right now has the j's racing at the top or a hytech single outlet exhaust(if they decide to make it)

there's a CALI member that is going to check on the hytech possibility, so only time will tell

I noticed their are 2 different exhaust system's from j's racing... the 60RS and the 70RR...both listed for the CL9? I noticed it said the 70RR is recomend for racing only, why is that?
