Thumbs down No More iPod Music Link For TSX?

We had the iPod Music Link installed by an Acura dealer in our 06 TSX despite the negative reviews. When I leave my ipod plugged in, when turning on the car, the iPod and whatever XM station was playing on XM2 came on simultaneously, with the CDC (disc changer) information displayed. See my problem post:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28107

Went in for service in an attempt to fix this issue and talked with the service team lead who told me that (1) this is a software glitch and currently not fixable; and (2) Acura is no longer selling the Music Link for the TSX because of this glitch. He told me that the Acura/Honda engineers in CA are working on a fix -- they don't know whether it is a head unit issue, or the Music Link adaptor unit. Can anyone confirm?

Fortunately, the dealer is giving me the option of waiting for a fix or de-installing with a refund.

Must be an '05, 06 owners seem not to care because of the aux port. Good luck dude and I'd say just get your money back.

2006, as I wrote in the post. We purchased it b/c it is invaluable (to us, in city traffic) to have the ipod controlled from the steering wheel/stereo controls instead of fumbling with the ipod to change songs or playlists. My . We also like the fact that it pauses the ipod automatically and resumes when the car is turned off an on, and we don't have to hide the ipod and its wires each time we get out of the car (grand theft auto around here).

The Dension IceLink has been working well for me so far. You can use the steering wheel controls and it costs the same as the Acura unit.

OK, I missed that the first time I read it. This is very bad news - I was just getting ready to purchase one of them. Did they say that they discontinued it ONLY for the TSX? If so, that would most likely indicate a problem with the head unit. Not good.

Correct, they told me discontinued only for the TSX. It apparently works fine in the TL, despite its inclusion of XM.

My guess is that it is a HU issue with how the call is made when the HU boots up. But there no overlap between XM1 channels and the Music Link. And, there is no overlap between the CD changer (playing discs) and XM1 or XM2. It only occurs with the Music Link and XM2. This gives me some hope that it can be fixed with firmware/hardware for the music link adaptor unit since it appears to use the CD changer input (CDC indication, etc.).

I noticed this when I tried out the Music Link in my 2006 TSX. I thought I was doing something wrong, but I guess not...

I just installed my music link a couple of days ago. I been trying to reproduce the same problems you have but mine works perfectly. No XM bleed thru.

I can also confirm that Acura sent out a bulletin saying that the music link wasn't compatible with the TSX (I'm guess because some ppl ran into your problem)

If memory serves me right, doesn't the AirClick mini Remote Control for Apple iPod mini hook up through the dock connector of the Ipod? This would mean the elimination of connecting the ipod to the aux input via the dock connector using a monster cable.

If it doesn't use the dock connector then I am also interested in it.

Depends on what model iPod you have. From Griffin's website:

AirClick mini is made for:
• iPod mini

AirClick is made for:
• iPod Photo
• 4th Generation iPod with Click Wheel
• 3rd Generation iPod with touch wheel and buttons

AirClick with Dock Connector is made for:
• 5th Generation iPod with Video
• iPod Photo
• 4th Generation iPod with Click Wheel
• iPod mini

Is the nano 4th generation? Is there a version for the nano that doesn't connect to the dock connector?

Thanks

4G iPod is the "big" iPod with the click wheel--the U2 version is also 4G. (sans Video)

Looks like you need the dock connector model to work with the Nano.

Thanks for the info. It would have been sweet to add the remote, but you can't have everything. Yet!

lol

This was actually my first ipod and it was meant to be an introductory one. My feeling is that within a couple of years, flash memory will power the big ipod and maybe there will be some features that will allow me to control it remotely.

Ipod listening represents approximately 90% of my listening time in my TSX. I look forward to the future.
