Can someone post the part# or whatever to the newest DVD for a 2004 TSX with Navi ? Do vendors here sell them ? Whats the cost for the newest one and when did it come out ?

The DVD I have in my newly purchased 2004 TSX the graphics look cheesy.

Here's what happened: when I got my TL-S the deutsche bags at Luxury Motors in Downers Grove had a great deal on the car but it came without floor mats & most annoyingly no Nav disk. I made the hour long drive there about 4 times & they kept giving me all these random Nav disks which I knew would not work especially with the advanced system the newer TL-S have. I finally gave up & just ordered it from Acura but ended up keeping an '04 Version they have given me. Of course it did not work on my car but I do not know if it will work on yours. I am more than willing to send it out especially since you're in Chicago & offer a full refund if it doesn't work. Price $75 (shipping included but not for return if it doesnt work)...this will at least cover some of the gas I spent driving there so many times. PM me if interested, I have PayPal.

Don't think you can burn the new versions. IIRC there's a DVD format check in the software that won't let it run if it's not the right format, which any burned CD won't be.

FYI, the website of the manufacturer is http://www.acuranavi.com . I believe they release a new version every October, but they usually offer a discounted price in December for the holidays.

I'm considering getting the latest DVD so that my clock follows the new daylight saving time rules. However, if I do so, I'll lose my customized start-up screen.

 

yeah I heard the same thing, but I'm attempting to burn the latest white disc now. we'll see how it goes

 

I'm not sure that the new disk will change the clock to follow the new daylight saving time rules. I bought last years version and the clock didn't change.

My 2004 dvd drive broke, so i bought a 2006 dvd drive from a member here, and it changed all the menus to look much newer and better. The navi is now much faster too. The drive is actually from an 06 accord but they are all inter changeable so it even still shows the acura logo on boot up and everything.

Once you see the difference it really shows how old and outdated the 04 navi menu looks. I don't think a new disk will give these new menus though.

 

your talking about the dvd drive in the truck right...thats interesting... I guess you are using a 06 disc in that drive then..... did the disc come in the drive, what did you pay for the drive/disc ?

Yes the dvd drive in the trunk. No it did not come with the disk. I actually went to the dealer and the guy had an orange disk laying around the he sold me for 40 bucks. Popped it in and it worked.

You should be aware that there are 2 minor issues with a newer drive which might turn you off from swapping to a newer unit. First the voice mic doesn't work for some reason. No big deal for me since the voice directions still work, just no voice input. Second, the bottom of the touch screen is a little offset when touching anything at the bottom of the screen. But it still registers your touch though.

Oh and the newer navi does not have the gas mileage screen, its in the instrument cluster on the newer navi. So i lost that which sucked. But see i had no choice because my original dvd drive broke so i was happy to just get any replacement. Newer faster menus was just a nice benefit.
