New TSX Owner

Well I just bought my first TSX yesterday and I absolutely love it. It is a Certified Pre-Owned 2004 TSX w/o navigation. It has 35k miles and I drove it off the lot for $20k.

I had brought it in to the dealer today for a quick realignment. They then told me that they were going to throw on a new set of tires and brakes for the hell of it, at no charge. As such they needed to overnight a couple of parts to the shop, so I will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon. I'm already feeling a bit of dismay when I would look into the driveway and didn't see it, heh.

I'll be driving it back up to school come this saturday when my spring break ends (yes I know, a very early spring break), Miami to Charlotte. About a 13 hour drive, but I think it should be quite a comfortable drive.

The funny thing is, the car was first purchased March 3rd, 2004 and I re-purchased it March 3rd, 2008.

I haven't taken many pics, but here is what I have. I have yet to add any after-market mods so it generally it is not to par with the majority of the cars here...yet

That just about wraps up my intro, This forum has been loads of help so far pre-buy.

Thanks

The guy who previously owned it apparently had 5 or so cars. Therefore, not so many miles and pretty much pristine condition. I am happy with the buy.

Congrats! New tires AND brakes? Wow, I'm surprised a dealership would do that for you.

The weather is great down here. It was about 82 degrees today and sunny.... to bad i need to go back to the cold (at least cold for me, as i grew up in Miami) of North Carolina.

As far as plans go:
(1) Tints will be put on later on this week before i drive back to school.
(2) I'm looking into a new set of wheels, not sure which yet. Currently I am looking at ASA AR1's or Gram Lights 57s-pro. However I am open to any and all suggestions as I am a bit new to after market modifications.
(3) I would very much like a kenstyle body kit. However, being a college student doesn't help much with the flow of an income. My mom has already made it clear that anything I want to do to the car is solely out of my pocket.
(4) I'm going to definitely get myself an Injen CAI.
(5) Possibly smoke out the taillights and mirror turning signal.

Any other advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated.

@ Earl, Miami Acura is apparently one of the best dealerships in the country. From what I am told, it isn't uncommon that they do tire and brake swap outs on new Certified Pre-Owned purchases.

*sigh*
I wish mine was black. I was originally supposed to have black with parchment interior, but two days before I was gonna make the trip to pick it up, there was a hailstorm at the dealership damaging the car.....I had to settle for CGP.

Congrats though! She's a beauty!

Congrats! She's a beauty. Not that it matters but I'm curious if it's a 6SP or 5AT?

Mine is 1 1/2 years old and it still gives me a smile everytime I get behind the wheel or even just by looking at it.

Great purchase and beautiful car. I wanted black, but I got CGP w. ebony interior bc 1) there were no black ones after checking the lot for a couple weeks 2) i realized CGP is color most manufacturers dont offer. However, as your pictures show, IMO nothing is more pretty than a clean black car.

The peace of mind of owning a CPO is wonderful, too. I paid about $1000- 1500 more for purchasing a CPO from my local Acura dealer and not driving to Houston, but I have been taken care of very well. I get a loaner anytime its in the shop- and I request my loaners. My first was a new MDX w/ every feature but sport package. Then RDX, which i will get everytime from here on out. I didnt get new tires and brakes ( I got my car w/ 22000 miles) , but the battery was replaced and several other little things to keep it as close to a new car as possible. Enjoy your new ride.

Thanks to everyone. I am very happy with the color choice and the parchment leather interior really compliments the NBP exterior.

Catch921:

Car looks beautiful. It looks brand new. Got to love the 2004-2005 factory rims. Take care of her. You lucky dog. I wish I had a nice car like that when I was 18.

Is that a parchment interior I see inside?

Since you are going on a long distance trip soon, let me just say that the Tsx is a tremendous long distance cruiser. I also live in Miami. Have driven to Disney World and back. One tank of gas. 552 miles round trip!!

Also, have driven from Miami to St Augustine. 315 miles without making one single stop. Did not feel tired. The seats are very comfortable and the driving position is great. I love this car for long distance trips.

Update us after you complete your trip.

Will do Miamicarfan,

Yes, that is parchment leather you see. Miami is great, I love it here. Lived here my whole life. However, you got to experience new things and places in college, therefore i decided to leave the state.

I'm glad I now have some reassurance that the ride is nice and smooth long distance. To be honest, I was beginning to worry about the trip. 13/14 hours by myself, never done it before.

I'm fortunate to get such a beautiful car at my age, gotta thank my mom for fronting half of it . It was all under the one conditions that I would pay half and anything aftermarket would be paid my me.

What made you choose that particular dealer? If not bc they had the specific configuration you wanted. I'm about to buy but I haven't decided if I'm going to use Esserman, Rick Case, South Florida or another dealer.

I've been looking for any experience related stories to help. Thanks in advance.

Well mainly I chose Esserman Miami Acura because we have ties to the GM of the dealership. Miami Acura is also apparently one of the best run Acura Dealership in the country and the best in Florida.

While at the dealer awaiting the new tires, they had noticed a little bit of condensation in the front left headlamp. Anticipating it to be a problem on both sides, they simple gave me entirely new headlamps.

So in total, New Tires, Brakes, Headlamps, and a Realignment all at no charge.

What sucks now is that it poured today and the car is already dirty...was just cleaned to. meh.

Catch921:

Is Miami Acura (located on South Dixie Highway and 166 street) and Esserman (located on northwest 12 st near 107 ave by International mall) part of the same dealership with 2 different branches? Or are they separate, distinct dealerships?

Were the pictures of your car taken outside the Esserman place by International Mall or the Miami Acura place by South Dixie?

The Miami Acura place off of South Dixie. ROn Esserman owns dealerships all over South Florida. Everything from Nissan to Acura.

Well I must say that my 13/14 hour drive, although long and boring, was a very smooth ride the entire way. To top it off, only used two tanks of gas. Can't beat that. Big step up from how much of a gas guzzoler my Explorer XLT is.

Miamicarfan, you were indeed right. it really is a "tremendous long distance cruiser."

+1 On the gas thing. My drive home was about 11-12 hours. What was your average MPG homebound?? I had got about 33-34 on my drive home after purchase. It was a good feeling. Congrats again on the purchase!

Catch921:

I told you

I wish you had satellite radio on your car.

It came standard with the 2005+ Tsxs. You can have it installed in your car. I think this makes the experience even better. Sure, you may have cds or an ipod, but with satellite radio, you have tons of radio and news stations available to you, uninterrupted. No matter where you go in the United States, the station does not fade out. Also, you don't know what song is going to come out like you do with cd or ipod. I have discovered tremendous songs on my long distance journeys. Songs and groups I would not have discovered otherwise. It just makes the miles melt away.

Catch 921, How far did you go from Miami before you had to fill your tank? And how fast were you going?

Like I said before, I traveled 550 miles once on one tank of gas. Had the cruise at 60 mph.

Congrats!

I wish mine looked as pretty. Mine has received it's fair share of scratches and scrapes along it's 88k mile (and counting) journey. They're mostly only obvious to me because I know where to look. lol

You'll definitely enjoy your TSX.

i was about 430 miles per tank. I was cruising at 80 in Florida and 70 in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

I usually go about 10 mph over on the highway.

Also, thanks Thunder.
