New TSX, Car trip

Hey guys,
got my tsx a couple of weeks ago, and enjoying it. Here is the question:
My car has about 300 miles on it, and I need to go to Chicago from Detroit(~300 miles). Do you think i should take my TSX ,on this trip or just wait a little while more.

i made a detroit to chicago trip the 2nd week of having my car. it was about 500 round trip, and i thought it was fine. as long as you avoid WOT and hard braking, there's nothing you should worry about. varying your speed and rpm/gear is a good idea, too.

thoma, where do you live?? there's a michigan meet coming up (june 24th) at stoney creek & kart2kart.

I would go on the trip. Use cruise control to help keep you from reving high.

You'll probably get through the break in period during the trip, so by the end you'll be reving freely...

actually I thought your suppose to vary your speed when breaking in the car...the cruise would be a no no then.

You're right. No cruise control for the first 600 miles. You need to vary your speed and RPMs.

I put on about 800 miles the 2nd day I had my TSX... just stayed away from the cruise, varied the speed and kept the RPM's as low as possible. At least I didn't have to wait a long time for my break in period.

A side-note that may or may not have been related... my auto transmission had to be replaced at 6K because of a whining noise.
