New Front Bumper - Should I go Mugen, Spoon??

Alright,

Acura has been pissing me off lately. I bought my car at Sussman Acura in Jenkintown, and about 9 months after owning it, a few small chips formed on my bumper. Within a few days, and some rain, a 4 inch block of paint fell off my bumper, exposing another layer of silver paint. When I got my car inspected at another Acura dealership, they said that the bumper looks as though it has been repainted, and that I should take it back to my original dealer.

I did that, twice, and got nowhere. Actually, the second time I caused a scene at the dealership and raised my voice almost to yelling level in their showroom complaining and vowing to never buy another car from that dealership.

So after that, I went to visit the parents, and since I am never there, when my dad was leaving to head to work, and I was there on vaca, he ran into my car, totally forgetting that I was even at the house. There is a nice 4 inch gash right below my left headlight. Nothing else is damaged, but the bumper needs replaced.

Should I go the Mugen or Spoon route? I already have the OEM underbody kit the whole way around. Is there a bumper that will be classy, and not look stupid from the side because the side sills might not line up with the new bumper?

Does anyone have any pics or recommendations? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I do not find anything, I have found Acura dealerships online that sell the front bumper for $271 shipped to PA. I would just need to get it painted, which shouldn't cost me more than $300 or so.

Thanks!

i love both the mugen and spoon front bumpers. go with whatever fits your budget and whichever one you like. we can all say get this bumper and what not but ultimately it's really your decision and not ours. good luck!!

I can't really tell. It looks like an 04 because there's trim on the hood above the grill it's blue rather than silver, the grill on the 06's has the silver lining connected to the grill rather than the hood. Then again, that's the jdm version so I'm not too sure.

to be honest I dont think I need/want fog lights anyway....., there nice but I think that front end is nicer......., Our hids are pretty damn adequet..... what does everyone think...., I think Im gonna brake down and buy that spoon/phase bumper for my 05'. What do you think about aftermarket fog lights specially installed on the spoon bumper ........ not sure how it would work/look.

no deal. i wouldn't install fogs on the spoon bumper. it's gonna look off IMO. the cutout holes are just too big

If you get any aftermarket bumper period, please no fogs.

But i would go Mugen looks a lil more subtle and classy, while the Spoon looks agressive and sharp. So whatever floats your boat.

BTW is ur car an 04-05? or 06?

^^^ wait . . . but doesn't 06 Mugen have spots for the foglights though? Wouldn't it look weird without them? Actually I don't even know I'm just wondering why you say no to fogs . . .

yes the 06 mugen bumper have spots for fogs. you can either get their hid fogs and get that front, or you can just get the standard front to work with the factory fogs

fogs would look ok on the spoon bumper but only one way. you need to do a hidden mount behind the mesh so when they are off you dont see them at all.

I think you should go with something clean and nice. which is mugen front lip kit. The spoon is nice but its little too much for me. Its not like, I have a intercooler to show off. The air vent is little much for me.

The Spoon would be great if I had a nice big FMIC to show off in the front, but regardless, that big gap is useless to me. Mugen is just as good.

Um.... you do know that Mugen or Spoon cost over 1k right?? since you mentioned you can get the OEM bumper for more than 300+ .... that's a BIG difference.

But when you mentioned classy, Kenstyle came to my mine. Kenstyle is nice, why go all spoon or Mugen? Unless you want aggressive look..

I agree, I was thinking the same...The ome bumper is no more than $400 or even less...He doesnt really have to get a mugen full kit. I think he was looking for something clean and not to flashy... like I said, mugen lip fits right on to his description...Mugen lip kit is about $600 painted so shouldn't so bad.

Sorry for not putting the year of my TSX. I have an '04. I want the classy look, not the aggressive, dare I say ricey look of the spoon. The mugen is more my choice. I have not checked Kenstyle yet.

I will look at the Mugen Lip Kit. Might go this route if I can find a good price. Plus, it has to look good with the rest of the OEM underbody kit that I already have installed.

If I do not end up getting that, I will probably just go with the OEM front bumper since you can get it at Delray Acura online for only $271 shipped to Philadelphia.

Does anyone have a pic of the Mugen front lip kit with OEM underbody kit on a '04 or '05?

hmmm if you want it to look good with the rest of the oem kit then I would not get anythign mugen. reason being is the mugen kit hangs about an inch lower than the factory kit so the lines from your front bumper wont line up with the sideskirt they will be a lot higher than the bottom of the bumper and really obviouse.
