I actually agree with that, but your still getting everything the 3 series gives you with a TSX, for less money.

Personally, I used hate the new E90. However, I saw one next to a E46 and relized the E46 looks so dated! My beloved E46...the car which I thought looked timeless....looked dated to me. Only a genious like bangle could do that. Dam him....and the Z4 too.
Actually, the post face-lifted E46 sedan looks very dull. But when I compare the E90 and my Mtech E46 with BBS on all 4 corners, I still love the look on my E46. However, my PWP TSX still get more compliment and look way more outstanding than my E46.
See this thread that have a pic of my TSX & E46 side by side

I have drove the E90 325i and it drive a lot better than my E46. And the tranny is not as notchy as before. But the refinement are still not up to Honda level. When you driving it in high speed and then down shift it then you will know what I talking about! BMW will feel like you just damaged the drive chain but Honda are damn so smooth that you dunno you just down shifted it.

Except for the fact that the 3-series is classified as COMPACT while the A4, TL, G35, CTS, etc. are all classified as MID-SIZE. So while it is competing with them price wise, the TL and G35 offer more powerful engines, more room, and more features for a lower price.

Will BMW feel shame when C-Class is 3-series competitor! civic, corolla and accent is C-Class real competitor!

The new 3/5/6/7/Z4/X5/X3 are just plain fugly to look at. They look about as classy/cheap as a Pontiac now. The M3 is the only nice one left.

That's because the M3 is still on the E46 body style... once they make the E90 M3, that prettier family of BMW will be all gone, wiped out...

Actually the E90 3er ain't as bad as the E60 5er, Though the only angle of the E90 I like is just front straight-on, the rear looks a bit too busy and the side has too many lines.

I know that the current M3 is the E46. The upcoming M5/M6/M3 will sure be powerful, but they still look horrible. Not that I care. If I play my cards right I'll be getting the new GTR in 3 yrs.

Oh no, I wasn't implying you didn't know the diff between E46 vs E90, no no...

6er is gross... can't get past its sleepy, droopy looking headlight; the kidney grille on it is aweful I am sure the engineering is top notch, I've even saved the series of documentary on the 6er design, manufacturing, testing that was broadcast last year (on TLC, I believe) but styling get a big from me.

GTR... you are talking about the G35 (I like to refer to it as Skyline still, heehee) GTR? That beast is looking good! For the longest time, I have been wondering how Nissan will play its cards regarding the R35 GTR in relation to G35 over here.

Yes, I'm talking about the Skyline GTR. I'm actually on my 2nd G35 coupe (Skyline) right now. Rumor is that the GTR will have a 3.2 TT V6 making 450+ hp, weigh under 3200 lbs, have part time AWD, and cost from $60-80k Hopefully at the lower end. Also, I don't think it can be priced too much more than the E90 M3 if it wants to be competitive. The next G35 will most likely have a 3.8 or 4.0L V6.

True dat about the M5. I always thought the new headlight style was more bushy eyebrows than anything else.

Have you guys seen the 6er in person? I agree with you when judging from the pictures, but in person it's an awesome looking car that well proportioned all around.

i have to agree with what most people are saying about the new 3. I also had a chance to drive in one (my dad is considering a e90 330i or an e46 m3).

It just doesn't do it for me. "Lines are fussy", "it looks like a smaller model now" etc. all very true IMO.

i dont know why anyone wanting a sporty mid size car wouldnt just go for the m3 - maybe second hand to get the same price ( and an SMG if u gota have the auto).

i know i'll be doing my best to convince my dad to get the M3

If your going to dish-out $34-$35k I would wait for the NEW Lexus IS because the current IS300 model is soooo nice as it is.

Then again you can argue and say wait for new BMW 4 series coupes or new Honda Accord redesign in 2006 or TSX mini-update next yr or 2 on'n'on...

Are you kidding me?? The current IS300 is nothing more than a glorified Corolla in my opinion. The interior is cramped, the engine is underpowered, the car is heavy, and the gauge cluster is just terrible. The only thing that the IS has going for it right now is RWD.

Now the new IS looks like something worth looking at.

I have seen the 6er, both hardtop and convertible, in person several times.

The car's proportion has nothing wrong, but the styling touches are very wrong (to my eyes anyway). The inverted trunk lid / lines are still aweful, and as I said before, the front-end is all wrong... all very non-BMW IMO.

BMW styling

That and he's got a ton of cash. The best part is he's just figuring out how things work as he goes along. He's not a mechanic, just a really bright individual.

He's probably got a insanely high paying job and is beyond smart...he went to MIT, so he's probably done ok for himself

everything about the new bodystyle doesn't do me. however, i can't wait to see the new E60 M5 in person though from what i read on the M5 forum, the car is extremely fast and its handling is by far phenomenal.

The M6 handling will be even more phenomenal than the next M5... I heard it will easily pull >1 lateral G consistantly.

I had a new 330i follow me on the freeway for about 2 miles and then I followed her for about 2 miles to take a good look ( at the 330i ). IMHO it looks really nice. The pictures don't do it justice.

What colour was it? The E90 seems to look better in darker colours...

I've seen couple in person, parked so I stared for as much as I wanted The rear lights cluster and the shapes/lines around the middle of trunk lid where the plate goes seem a bit too busy... looks like lots of stuff crammed into that space, lots of visual "noises".

It was black. I'm usually not a fan of black cars but it looked good. Very clean and shiny. At one point she decided I was going too slow so she punched it and was by me in about a second. (I was on a business trip to Vegas so I was in a rental Corolla). I sped up just a little to keep her from upshifting and I could hear the engine purr as the revs went up. I like the wider look. The old ones looked more rounded but the new one seems wider and lower. The rear could have been better but it didn't bother me that much.

I don't care about the SMG tranny as much as I do about the new CVT they have for the Honda Jazz. Think...all the advantages of a CVT, plus a 7 speed sport shift mode. I could give up on pursuing an MT for that.

I much prefer the wider and lower looking stance of the E90 compared to the E46. But I won't be tempted or regretting anything with the TSX that I am enjoying so much. Very fun car in its own rights and without all the reliability worries that come with BMW.
