Question Negotiating Best Price Help....

Hello all, first post on the TSX forums. I've been reading over them for the past week or so after we test drove the TSX and loved it. Previously we were considering the following cars:
  • Audi A4
  • Subaru Legacy GT Limited
  • Volvo S40 T5 AWD
  • Used Infinity G35 sedan (RWD was the deal breaker)

After driving those other cars we tried out the TSX and just loved everything about it. The fact it comes standard with so many features is a huge plus, not to mention the slow depreciation found with Acura's. Of course I'm telling you things you are all already very aware of! lol

Anyways, my question is that I am currently negotiating the best price I can on an '05 TSX. We looked at the '06 TSX and to be honest, we both MUCH prefer the look of the '05 over that of the '06, plus saving a few thousand sounded pretty good too! Right now I have a quote from a local dealer that can get me a '05 non-navi automatic for 25,800. I have a couple more dealers that I think will beat that based on what I'm hearing. One dealer knows the current lowest offer I have and told me to make them an offer, basically just say what it would take on their part to sell me that car. That's where I need help. I know the invoice cost is upper 24k's, and from the sign-in thread it looks like even at 25.8k I'm getting a pretty good deal. What should I throw out to this other dealer to see if they will bite and take it? I know the worse they can say is no but at the same time I would like to get the deal done within the next few days if at all possible.

My main goal is to walk out of the dealership at 26.5k, or less, including TTL and any other fees. Anything less is gravy.

Try to get them down to $25,500.

That would be a good deal.

$25.5 for non-navi sounds like a good deal to me. Though you might be able to squeeze a few hundred extra out of them since the 06s are on the way. All this being said....

Get navi!

I just bought my TSX this past Saturday for 25K even w/o Navi (before TTL), and what I did was take the best price I received and shopped it around to my local dealers asking them if they could beat that price. Many scoffed, but I found it's the best, most direct way to get the price you want. Sounds to me you're getting a pretty decent deal.

Get navi!

$2,000 for a map? No thanks! lol Seriously though, I do not do enough out of town travel (to destinations unfamiliar) to justify spending that kind of cash. When I bought my Mazda 3 I got it w/o Navigation as well for that exact reason. Got every other option but that, and the automatic transmission, if you want to count that as an "option".

Looks like I will see if I can get the other dealers down to 25.5 and go from there and whichever comes down the most from that gets my business.

one other reason is that Mazda nav sucks compared to Acura's products. Acura Nav is SO much better than any other nav available. I bet the Mazda wasn't voice activated or anything good like that

I just secured an '06 (w/Navi) today for $500 over whatever the invoice price of the 2006 is (which is still unknown to the dealers). Dealer also agreed to give me a loaner if they can't deliver my car by Dec. 3 which is when my current lease is up.

The best part of this was that it took NO HAGGLING. I called up the Internet manager at the 2nd closest dealer to me after having a bad experience trying to negotiate with the dealer in my town. The Internet manager is listed on Acura.com if you search for dealers in your area.

Anyway, I said, I'd like an '06 with these specs at $500 over your cost and guaranteed delivery by this date. He said OK. I had spoken to him on Saturday and he seemed VERY straightforward, no-nonsense/no-bull. As a result, I told him when I spoke to him today that I'd like to give him first crack at my business because I liked his style. It was the simplest transaction I've ever had!!

Anyway, I'm not sure what the invoice on an '05 is, but I wouldn't pay more than $500 over that.

Why does Mazda nav suck as compared to Acura's? I'm new to navigation but I would imagine that unless Acura has figured out some cool new way to tell me how to get to Orlando the difference would be neglible on the actual navigation function. Of course Mazda navigation isn't voice activated, or at least it wasn't in '04 models. From reading the reviews of this feature on Edmonds.com it doesn't seem like the voice activated part works too well?

Eh, either way I don't really want to debate Maz navi vs. Acura navi as I'm not getting either.

well alpine makes Acura's units and they kick A. It has a touch screen and voice commands which is hard to find in nav units. Actually the nav voice commands work great unless u have the music full blast with the windows down
