Need some help on price!!

Hi everyone, newbie here. I'm about to purchase a TSX but am unsure on what I should do. My options are:

2005 New $25700.

2004 Used, 12,000 miles $23000 - from a private party

I'm not sure if I'd have to pay a sales tax if I bought used. Any suggestions would be great. I've been stressing about this for awhile and need to make a decision by this weekend!!

IMHO, extra few $k on a brand new one over used is definitely worth it - for you can take the best care breaking-in the car from day 1.

Assuming the 04 model has the Navigation option, it may be 500~1000 away from a very good deal. At least you won't be paying doc/prep fees for the second option.

Good luck on your choice.

Buy the new. You get a few more things on the 2005 like the XM radio that isn't available on the 2004.

You DO have to pay sales tax even if you buy it used (at least here in California). $25.7K on a new one isn't a bad price. I'm assuming here that both cars have the same AT/MT and navi/non-navi options that you are looking for. I think the 05 has XM radio and a power passanger seat which are features the 04 will not have. On the other hand, if the 04 has the naviation system then that is a $2K option on a new car. I would go for the new one myself. Good luck with your choice. Let us know what you decided.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies...I really am impressed that I got replies so quickly. I just talked to the sales rep and he said he would sell to me for 25,700 only if I financed through him and got the extended warranty 5yr/100,000 for 1,395 w/ 0 deductible. Is this a good deal? I know I read on other posts that people have been able to get the ext warranty for less. Is the price of the ext. warranty negotiable??

Dude, you will love your NEW car! When there is a difference of $3,000 or less, go for the new. On extended warranties I'm less excited. Extended warranties are a gamble, on the part of the dealer, that you will never need to use it. If you don't, then it's virtually free money for them. However, if you do, it can save your ass. The odds are in their favor, however. I'll repeat that: The odds are in their favor.
