People get leather cause leather is nice
y would u put sheep skin over it?
This is a TSX 30 k car, not a pinto
u will also disable your seat warmers
that is wicke hic and ghetto
try conditioner and cleaner
cheaper and is waaaaaaay better than covers

PLEASE tell me this is a joke.
Are you like a hundred years old or something?
You're one of those women that puts plastic on their furniture aren't you?
Listen, put the keys down and step away from the car. A representative from Acura will be there shortly to find another home for the TSX. You'll then be driven to the nearest Kei dealership. They have the plastic seats that you're looking for.

Wow and gosh! I had never realized that seat covers would evoke such thorough, clear, and unambiguous response. I confess that I too, like rb4580, was mulling seat covers. I've always used sheepskin seat covers on my current and previous cars, but they all had cloth upholstery, except my Datsun that had genuine Naugahyde. (I guess Naugas are now endangered or illegal to import? You never see those anymore.)
I had thought that black-sheep seat covers would do OK in an Ebony interior. I guess not! And fear NOT! I don't have my TSX yet! There's been an excess of Quartz interior cars coming in to the US rather than what people are ordering--Ebony.

It's been a month since I read the manual but I vaguely remember it saying not to use seatcovers as it will interfere with the side airbags. I'm too lazy to RTFM right now...perhaps someone can confirm.

I agree, you wouldn't want to permanently cover your nice leather seats, but I have a dog, and I would like to have some way of protecting them when he is in the back seat. Any ideas?

since this is my first leather-interior car i was also thinking about seat covers to protect the leather but i realized how unnecessary that was after seeing there are tons of leather cleaners, conditioners, and protectants out there

I need a sanity check, please.
In the past two weeks since I've had my new car, two people have recommended car seat covers! "If you don't get seat covers, your leather is going to wear out badly". (I didn't have the heart to say the most of the TSX's seats are of some form or another from the hide of a Nauga, that only the perforated part is real leather.)
One person suggested that Hawaiian-style cloth seat covers--in green!
I must admit that these two people are family members. Is there __any__ hope for my family members? Divorce isn't the solution.
That said, when I sit into the driver's seat, my upper thigh does rub a fair amount onto the left side of the seat's upper "wing". What good is leather care if the majority of the seat is some kind of Nauga-hide derivative? Are seat covers the practical answer to preventing premature wear to both the Nauga and the leather?
Which style of seat cover is the lesser of all evils? Sheepskin? Hawaiian Tiki, Hawaiian Floral...... Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll p!

I'll confirm this, and I don't even have the car yet. The Airbags deploy from the sides of the seats (not the B pillar or door), so, anything covering the side of the seat will screw up the Airbags. However, I don't think the sensors will pick this up, so the bag will deploy anyway, and get all screwed up when it hits the cover.
Also, I'm pretty sure that seat warmers will still work with covers, but it'd take a long time to heat through the cover and then heat you.
So yeah...don't use seat covers. Because they'll screw up several features of the car, and you will be personally run over by me (or one of the other guys here) for tarnishing your TSXs good taste.

What's scary is that some people really are installing them.
Will they make a comeback? They make wonderful moisture traps to ensure the roof rusts through nice and big and purty.

...guys, my last Acura had leather, and after four and a half years of every day usage, the only thing showing any sign of wear and tear was the fact there was some dirt build up on the drivers seat bottom and back rest area, the areas that you are in contact with the most...they had been cleaned a couple of times and never needed any other attention, I wouldn't get too overly concerned about having to protect the leather seats. I go along with the person who mentioned old ladies who cover all their furniture and lamps with clear plastic, give your heads a shake...!!

...the only possible problem you may eventually encounter with the 'non-leather' portions of the upholstery might be cracks on the sides of the seats where they flex in the same spot all the time, other than that the material used, whatever you want to call it, is most certainly as tough if not tougher and more care free than the parts that are actually made from good old cowhide...its really a no worry thing, enjoy them for what they are and how they look. One thing I always notice is how much less dustier the 'leather' interior is as compared to my Odyssey that has the velour interior, the leather version is actually a lot easier to keep clean.
