Navigation Routing Question
Navigation Routing Question
I typed in my address to receive directions from the LA Convention Center to my house in the San Fernando Valley (this will make more sense to anyone who lives in LA, however, the question will still make sense if you do not). I knew how to get home, however, I had no idea where the freeway on-ramp was.
The navigation gave me direction to take the 110S to the 10W to the 405N. I was expecting to go the other way, which I think would be a heck of a lot easier, the 110N to the 101W to my place. So I ignored the directions and got on the 110N expecting it to recalculate the directions and give me the directions to the 101W. However, it continued to expect me to get off the 110N for a few exits so I could continue toward the original route and get on the 110S.
Just curious why it did not pick up immediately on the route I was taking and recalculate based on that?

You need to read the navigation manual. So far I've read it twice and still have to refer to it for some things. There's a way to choose between four different routes like Direct, Easiest, etc.
Good luck.
Good luck.
It assumes that you just missed the turn, so it tries to keep the route. If you get past a certain point where it thinks there's a better route, it'll switch over.
Like mentioned above, you might want to change the routing method...but it doesn't make sense anyway...that original route seems to be farther (commuting from USC always takes me past the LA convention center, and I live in the San Fernando Valley.
Perhaps if you told it to detour ("set up"-->"detour"), it'll recalculate to the better route.
By the way, why don't you just program your "home" address. You can then say "go home" rather than typing your address in. I don't use a PIN to protect it anymore...they'll just grab it off my registration card if they wanted it lol
You could also set part of the original route to be an "avoid" area...so it won't try to route you that way again...

I tried using the "direct route" and "maximize freeways" and had the same result.

I need to explore the "detour" and "avoid" options, perhaps that will take care of it. I just have not programmed my home address in, though I think it is time. Thanks for the advice.
