Navigation DVD Update Concern
Have you guys noticed that the map data for the DVD is from 9302002? That means that (if/when they update it) there should be an update in about 3 weeks. I just picked up my car a week ago and am really curious as to whether or not they will give owners the update as a courtesy when/if it comes out. At least have some sort of "grandfathering" policy to be reasonable.
Does anyone know anything about Honda/Acura's politics on the DVD mapping updates, historically?
To buy a car and have an update for the option that you paid $2000 for seems a little unfair, no? Especially when it probably only costs them about $.75 to make the actual DVD!
And to make things worse, that means our maps are last years maps! If you think about it, we paid for a 2004 TSX and we get 2002's mappings!
Maybe they will do the first one for free as a courtesy? What's your thoughts on this?

Yep, the data (especially the POI) is quite out of date even for 20020930. I remember hearing new DVD prices of 125-180, but I don't think we should have to pay that much.
Maybe we should do a single buy and group-burn thing.

I think most of us understand that it takes hard work to produce these CD's. I'm a computer programmer/analyst/sys admin who probably does much less complex things than mapping data, but 120-180 is still a bit steep.
I'd much rather have a yearly subscription wherein you had a small laptop HDD that you could sync vs having to buy new DVD's.

I am pretty sure they would buy/lease/contract updated map info from Mapquest or Yahoo! or some similar company. I seriously doubt that Honda does all of the updating themselves.
On another note, the navi is damn near perfect, IMO. Except, the maps are really out of date. the more i have been using it, businesses have moved, changed buildings...etc. kinda annoying for such an expensive system.
