Is the Navi good off of the beaten path?

I have seen some of what the navi can do in the city, how good is it in the countryside? As an example this spring when I go on a golfing trip to Utah and Arizona, would it guide me to Arches National Park in Utah http://www.arches.national-park.com/ or the closest town of Moab? http://www.discovermoab.com/

Thanks

GPS unit are pretty much the same, it is the MAP that is different. Regular GPS may or may not contain off road route of MOAB or other less populated area. Lots of people in this case, get a hand held one that mark the bearing the unit keep track of way point and return route.. u can even get detailed map that will show u LAT and LONGtitude..... so before making purchase, check to make sure the MAP contain all the maps of the park................................... i know how utah road can be.. born in SLC myself..

The NAVI will leave 'dots' or 'breadcrumbs' on the navi if there is no road set.

I have experienced several times that the Navi lacks some addresses off the beaten path, especially if you have to go on "un-verified" roads. In smaller towns it generally has a few routes that are validated and are dark black on the screen, the rest of the streets are light brown. It will use some of those roads if you change the setting in the setup, but it's hesitant to take you on those even then. Then of course there's those times where it does take you on some path, and you look around and you may not be in the safest part of town.

Overall, it works pretty well, but it has a few glitches, as can be expected in a system that holds that much information.

If the road has been there for over 2 or 3 years and has a legal name it should be on the system.

Arches National Park will definately be on the navi system! It will show up as a huge green area on your nav screen and most of the roads in the park should be on there as well, unless they are very new!

When I went to South Jersey, there were some un-registered roads near the address i was heading to. It wasn't able to direct me exactly to where i was going, but it drew a dotted line from my car to the area I was headed so it would at least get me close (it's not the regular blue line, it moved with my car and was at a direct angle to the destination. It wan't going along the street paths)

Go to www.acuranavi.com to check which county the map cover.

I sometime drive to some small town in Wisoconsin and despit the website show that it did not have the map of the county I still have some map data thru out. It is just that if they stated on the web site, the map in those county are verifed (mean someone actully check and confirm its accuracy) Otherwise, the map are just there for your information only. Anyway, the map data is as good as the DVD. So I always have a paper map ready just in case. Otherwise, if you stay on the road, I don't think you will have much issue in it.

I guess it depends on which Navi DVD version you have to.
It's physically impossible to have every single road at all times on there. Obviously they are going to put the most traveled roads and the most populous cities in there first. Then slowly add the smaller roads and cities.
Even when they do all of those roads... it's still physically impossible to have every single road that exists on that one dvd becasue they are continuously building and redirecting roads everyday across the country.
