well, today i got a call from my insurance agent at FARMERS and he told me that my car is at an acura dealership right now haveing the ailignment checked, the seatbelt system fixed, the navi system fixed, and the airbags replaced......

i asked him why the airbags had to be replaced, and he said that the ENTIRE SRS system had malfunctioned during the wreck, MY AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED! my insurance company has no choice but to pay for this to be done, something around 2-3k....so this brings my grand total, of my car, to about 26-27k!!!

THIS IS BULLSHIT! im so f^cking pissed right now! i have called my attorney, and he is looking into it....so, more $250 per hour for lawyer fees if i dont win anything, and i am still stuck driving a POS FORD FOCUS <----FOR FORD!

i hope this problem is only in my car, and not all of the 1st production cars! my vin is in the 30x's.......

i want my damn car back or just totalled!!

 

I am not sure what the laws are in Arizona, but how can $26K of repairs be done and NOT total are car?

Glad you are ok, but that is scary about the SRS system manfunctioning ... here's to hoping they figure out what happened and issue a TSB/recall!!!

I am assuming your insurance company stuck you with the Focus? Sporty eh? Good luck with everything ... I am sure it is frustrating as heck.

somehow the insurance company got it into thier stupid ass little heads that the tsx is worth $34,000!!! they refuse to total it, mainly because of all the work they have done to it.....

when they started working on my car the total damage was at like 15k.........now it is a lil' higher.

Probably 'cause the adjuster didn't KNOW the SRS needed replacement! Otherwise they'd pay out the value of the car or a little more, and in return they'd get a nice bundle of used Acura parts to auction off. Throwing bundles of cash into a burning fireplace is the same thing as what they did, they wouldn't do it deliberately. Or would they?

P.s. What's the name of the insurance company? I might short some of it's stock if the rest of the company works like that!

As for the airbag malfunction, should I get my car's airbag wiring checked? My car is in the #300 range.

acura is reporting it to *whoever* they report it to...so, for the next 48 hours i dont have a solid answer for you.

when they tell me what they think the cause was, ill let you know.

 

stay away from progressive... when i get motivated to tell my tale, you will see why. also, i have a court date with them.

(EXCUSE MY LANGUAGE) What the fuck? you might as well start driving with no doors and windows if your SRS system is not functioning right. You better sue there asses hell a wreck from the rear at 70mph and no bags does seem very scary and odd but I wish you the best of luck and yea insurance co. are scams all of them

Heh, yeah that's weird. I guess the only reason they didn't total it is because the estimated damage was at 15k. As far as I know of the damage has to exceed the value of the car to have the car totaled. Oh well, I hope it all works out and if no air bags didn't deploy, where was your face?, planted in the steering wheel? Good luck and I would take it to court too. It seems like an easy case if the car malfunctioned.

I have a friend and business partner that I really respect his opinion. He owns a dealership and body shop in Chicagoland. He told me that you do not have to except a car if the insurance company insist on repairing it. I have an email out to him. He's very busy but hopefully he can get me the info. I tried to find an answer on the web. This is all I could find. Insurance FAQ They didn't give an answer. Ask you lawyer. I hope you do not have to take the car.

but, i never had any rattles to begin with.
