my 06 tsx in now 3 years old
it was on 11/17/06 when I first drove my brand new milano red/ebony 6MT tsx. I was so excited and still must say loving it. No problems-still have the original brakes, changed the tires at 74,000 miles. Have been on 3 cross-country roadtrips and numerous drives from NC and NJ and back. Now at 95,126 miles and counting

Happy 3rd Anniversary with +95,000 trouble free miles!
My 06 is 3 1/2 years old with +58,000 trouble free miles (about 70% hwy miles).
Are you going to drive it until the wheels fall off or do you have plans to trade in any time soon?

Dang you must drive on nice roads or something. Tire change at 74K?
I'm planning to drive my TSX until the wheels fall off like mrgold35 says. I don't believe in buying a car and then trading it 4 years later. That is what lease is for.

Same here. That's basically the difference in leasing or financing a vehicle. If you want to own a car for 3 or 4 years then lease, or drive the car to the ground then finance.

leasing is for those who drive 10-12K miles a year and want a new car every 3-4 years. They also like to make a payment every month-never really paying it off. (renting it basically) Based on the mileage on my car-(12,000 miles a year is average) my car is like an almost 8 year old car. I get the tires rotated and balanced plus check the tire pressure which helps keep the tires longer. Thinking about a new car but after driving my tsx I want to keep it.

cabin/pollen filters changed-Since my car is now 3 years old-according to the maintenance manual it is now due for a brake fluid change. I am also getting the MTF changed at the same time.

64K on my 06. Finally worked out some kinks with the S/C and some rattling noises the car was making. Changed the brakes and rotors to RacingBrake through HeelToe, just did drain and fill on the ATF and had new tires put on a while back. Right now I'm a 1,000 over due for an oil change but I may get to it this weekend. Still fun to drive...

mine is just over 3 years old as well, bought at same time as OP, day after thxgiving in 2006.
i'm at 60K miles. in the past 4 months I got new rotors and brakes to fix the OEM shuddering issue and new tires. I went with Powerstop's slotted/drilled and ceramic pads and they've been great so far. For tires, I have Michelan MX (whatever the new series is) installed from Tirerack, they were about $160/tire and I just got the $70 rebate check last week.
Other than regular oil changes, i've replaced my cabin filter once (thanks to instructions on this forum), had transmission fluid drained and topped off once. I didn't do the brake fluid change because the dealer said it wasn't necessary but I'll have to go back and check the manual because it sounds like i should have had it done (hopefully it's not too expensive to do).
i still love my car, i've had zero problems mechanically. my main issues are like everyone elses: crummy OEM pads, random interior rattle noises, crummy paint job with rock chips and some small rust spots (i need to get treated somehow with a rust protection once the weather turns).

2006 DGP Sold 10/24/2012
Mine is 4 years old but I've only owned it a month... traded in my CGP '04 for this lovely CPO DGP with 42K miles. The car looks like new with the exception of a few minor chips in the paint.... extremely tight with a flawless parchment interior. It developed a couple of issues when I first brought it home which were quickly addressed: the driver door actuator was balking and the front passenger window switch failed in the down position. Both were replaced under warranty.
My '04 was one of the early models and other than a few squeaks & groans it was a great car and absolutely reliable with zero problems in 6 years, but I got tired of the all-black interior and now-common CGP exterior and wanted something different, so when I came across this rare green beauty I made the switch. I've never owned a green car before but this color is quite fetching, with color-shifting elements similar to the other pearl treatments; exhibiting subtle hints of purple, silver and gold. In certain light it almost appears to be CGP...![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
The upgraded nav and interior features along with the bluetooth capability and custom MID settings are significant improvements over my first TSX, and I'm really loving that parchment leather.
I'm not a big fan of the new Acura styling nor the larger size of the new TSX so I'll likely be holding on to this one for another 5 or 6 years....

Looking at the '15 TLX
Yeah, I'd be interested to hear more about that also. I have ~131K on mine and only recently threw an emission lamp. Dealer claims it was "Cat Converter Clogged to 60%" - how the code can be that specific I have doubts. Reset the light and so far it has not come back on. I hope it's not the cat because if that goes so does the car. Otherwise, besides the inner CV's I haven't had any problems with this car. Much better than the '00 Pontiac Grand Am GT it replaced.

^^^
If the Cat goes and just replace the Cat and keep on motoring happily. To get rid of the car would be a waste especially being that you said it was trouble free. Just my .02 cents.

Oh well.
Besides, there has to be a brand-new for '10 model out there that I can break the first year kinks out of all over again.

You can get Catalytic Converters at independent shops for a fraction of what the Acura dealer charges. Sometime dealer charges are ridiculous -- like $6.76 for a quart of Honda motor oil at my local dealer.

Yeah, I suppose so. I was just in shock at the quotes they were offering for a new cat. Something like $1000 and then with the transmission whine... and frankly as much as this car has been good to me and I love it - after 7 years (I got it in Jul 03) I'm probably ready for a change. Thing is, I don't like the 2 gen body style at all so I'm torn.
Oh well.

I leased my car because I could get lower payments over 5 years than purchasing it outright (due to special financing for leasees).
Basically, instead of paying $410 a month (financing 22,000, after down payment, for 60 months at 4.5% interest) for 60 payments, I'm paying $363 a month for 36 months. I will be financing $8000 (lease residual minus original down payment plus interest earned in a 3-year CD at 5%) at 4% interest (from Pentagon Federal) and making 24 payments of $347.
Total if financed (not including down payment) - $24,600
Total if leased then financed (not including down payment) - $21,396
Do you still think that leasing is for those who plan on renting? I just saved $3,300 over 5 years in car payments. Can anyone else say that?
BTW, my original down payment would've been $8,300, the amount over what I owed on my trade in. I put it in a 3-year CD at Countrywide paying 5% interest and, when it matures, I will get $9,650. The original purchase price of my car was $30,280 after TT&L (07 5AT w/Navi).
As a side note, my car will be 3 years old in April. I will be purchasing my car from Acura and keeping it for a while. I have 35,000 trouble-free miles (50-50 mix)and plan on driving it at least another 3 years and 35,000 miles!

I originally had a 60-month car loan that I paid off in less than 2 years. I now am putting the payment I would have been paying into a savings account. At the rate I drive if I keep my car as long as you plan to keep yours it will have about 180,000 miles.

Just imagine that you're talking about a car loan instead of a mortgage, but it's the same principle. Just invest the money you would use to pay down the loan and you will come out ahead in the end.
