angrydad has a patch to get rid of the ok button but it only works on the orange discs. As far as I know nobody has gotten it to work with the white disc.

Which disc do you have?

man its a good thing you took some time to look through this thread before posting. the answer is no, at least if you have the 4.xx version of the dvd. what you can do however is change the startup pic and change the text in the disclaimer. see the link in my post above

i remember pushing it when the splash screen was up... you could try to go into the diagnostics menu by holding menu, map, and set up. then from there go into the setup/menu/cancel to get into nav diagnostic screen. thats how i fixed mine

they're seperate buttons. they look like they're one piece, but one toggles right and the other left. If the keyed in doesn't work, you might just have to disconnect the battery.

I was assuming your navi looked like this:

wait, maybe it was map+menu+setup. I was randomly pushing 3 button combinations when i got into that screen. It's been a couple weeks since I tinkered with it.

Map+menu+cancel= navi config menu
map+menu+set up= diagnostics

Has anyone successfully replaced the DVD drive with a USB Flash based drive? The advantages would be numerous. Faster access time, no moving parts, no fragile disk to scratch, more easily modified, much less space. I'm not sure of all the technical hurdles that would be involved, but with an 8GB flash drive it sure seems a better way to go. Simply copy all the files from your current Navi DVD to the flash drive, plug it in, and away you go. Other than physical connections, does anyone know how to make a flash drive appear to the system as a DVD? Any suggestions on hardware? I have yet to pull the DVD drive out, perhaps the connections are too complex to simply swap out the drive.

Updated Navi problem

I DLed a 2008 navi program from the TL. I used a dual layer DVD to burn the program, installed in my 06' TSX just fine and when I start the car it says that it can't read the DVD. I tried going back to the original but says that it was an older version and gotta take it back to the dealership. I'm going to try the method mentioned by dysin. BBL.

BTW anyone know what the flash slot is for, other than data? Mp3s? Mpegs?

The pc card slot in the navigation drive is not for maps. It's for the manufacturer's use only so they can pull diagnostics off of it or something like that.

What you probably will need to do is make a car pc. The pc will sit in the trunk, and display its output on the navigation screen. Since the open source group hasn't finished hacking the navi's touch screen, though, you'll probably need a wireless/bluetooth keyboard to send commands to the pc. I don't know of any navigation software that runs on a car pc, but maybe there is a solution out there. (I've seen car pc's installed in our cars, but I don't know the exact technical specs on them).

Bysin.

Having the experience in SH-4, i wanted to know if u could reply to a few simple questions.

I have imported a Honda Accord from japan.. wich is basically the Acura TSX .

I has everything in japanese. I tried loading the american orange DVD and it didn't install it.

When i compare the two dvds in my laptop, the japanese one has .DAT files and there is no .BIN file at all.

Still when i access the version screen, it shows a specific .bin file being used by it.

I don't understand where the .BIN files are. And i would greatly appreciate it if you cud give me a heads up on how to install the american navi disc onto it.

If u need the japanese navi disc, i can upload it for u to examine. Or i cud send u a select few files from it (which wud be much easier due to smaller file sizes)

Dude, help me out here.

Oh and one more thing. Here is a tip for EVERYONE who wants to make a backup of their DVD.

Burn ur DVD+R DL in DVD-ROM Booktype. It works like a charm.

How you do it. Well , just download the latest Nero in trial version. Install it. Goto Nero DiscSpeed. In 'Extra' click 'BitSetting'. in Bitsetting, next to DVD+R DL select DVD-ROM and Click the SET button. You are done. Now write the image of ur original dvd as a Data DVD (no multisession). Pay attention to the log messages when the Burn is in progress. It will say : Booktype Set to DVD-ROM. If u hav reached this point, u will burn a disc that shall work on ur Acura / Honda

On some drives, the BitSettings are Greyed out. Tough Luck. If u have a LiteOn, BenQ, NuTech, Samsung, NEC, LG, Plextor or Ricoh drive, ur in luck cuz then instead of Nero, Download IMGBURN. That software supports all those drives when Nero doesn't. Just Click Tools, Drive, Change Booktype.

Anyways....

Hey Bysin ... help me out dude.. it sucks not being able to use ur Navi system. Not even the Bluetooth system.

at least it's not like the Lexus's nav system where you cannot do anything while driving. Can't look up restaurants, can't change the destination point unless you stop the car completely. How lame?

Posts: 127 Modify your navigation system

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've developed a program to modify the navigation system in Acura/Hondas.
The actual navigation system is in Windows CE running a SH-4 processor, similar to a Sega Dreamcast (if not identical). I just bought my TSX about 2 days ago, but luckily I had a lot of experience hacking the Dreamcast so it didnt take me very long to hack the navigation system.

Here is the link to the program including there Visual C++ source code:
