mid 6's with an intake?
Jeff at TOV posted this responding to a cl-s vs TSX thread. Said he ran mid to high 6's with just an intake. This doesnt seem possible to me but the boy might be one hell of a driver!
probably the only thing you'll miss is the power and maybe the LSD.
Otherwise the TSX is a much better car, particularly how well it's balanced. After I drove it in January of 2003, I liked it so much I couldn't wait for the TL, so i bought soon after they came out. When I first drove the TL in September I was really impressed with its improvements over the previous generation, and I'd kill to have that power in my TSX, but the TSX still "feels" better to me overall.
One thing you'll have to keep in mind when test driving it is that the motor is wound INCREDIBLY tight for the first 3 or 4000 miles. With breakin it loosens up and gets quite a bit quicker. It still won't snap you back in the seat like the J32 in your CL-S or the TL, but it's quicker than it feels like. I still have the AEM test intake on my car and it's returned 0-60s in the upper-mid 6 second range. It's about on par with an automatic CL-S right now, and with better spaced gearing and superior aerodynamics it might even be quicker on the freeway. It's only down a few hp from an automatic CL-S/TL (dynos for those range from 190-200whp) and it weighs a few hundred lbs less. The lower mass is really what I like the most about the car, and you really don't have to give up much of anything in terms of comfort and refinement.
If Honda could figure out a way to shed even more weight with the TSX, goshalmighty, I wouldn't know what to do...

I can confirm the 6MT TSX is on par with an auto CL-S on the ¼ mile. I have found this out at the tracks a few weeks ago. Note that my TSX is bone stock.
I have also raced a driver's race against a 6MT TSX with an Injen CAI on, with the driver 60 pounds lighter than me, and I still manage to beat him by 1½ car length. I'd say that on paper the intake might add some significant hp, but on the ¼ mile, it isn't that obvious.
So I seriously doubt just an intake would bring the TSX below the 7s on a 0-60 dash.

On the contrary, biker. The first TSX articles started appearing in fall of 2002 and the press fleets for testing began arriving in the States in early 2003. The car was released to the public in April 2003, but the press had several ride and drive events and other testing events much earlier in the year so that they could write articles to generate more enthusiasm and press of the car. TOV has long since officially become a member of the press and so I find it plenty believable.

I asked Jeff how he timed it and this was his response.
Maybe I should have jumped into that CAI group buy afterall
i casually clocked it a few times with the ap-22. the ap-22 returned figures in the 6.7-6.9 range. i need to take it to a proper test venue and see what it will "really" do though.
i should test it with the vericom too to ensure the consistency of the numbers.

Get one so we can do the install together. I'm sure speedstate will still give you that price.
