Messy oil change

I just got done doing my first oil change on the TSX and boy is it the most ackward car I have ever changed oil on! I thought that the plastic cover over the drain plug was positioned strangely, but then I saw where the oil filter was! Did anyone at Honda think that it might be a little ackward and messy to put the oil filter where they did? I had oil running all over the place and spent most of my time cleaning up oil off the floor and off the plastic cover, oil pan, and the drive axle. I'm sure that next time will go smoother, but I am glad that I will only have to change it every 5,000 miles!

it's not worth the hassle and even time/money to do your own oil changes.. some people dont trust shops with their car so i can somewhat relate to.. but i never did any oil changes on any of my cars.. always let a shop i trusted do it.

i'm not going to get rich saving $10 by doing it myself.

I also prefer to do it myself, despite the mess. I like to make sure that it is done correctly and I have heard horror stories about it being done wrong and doing major damage.

Always changed my own, always will. Takes less time, more convenient, always done exactly right with exactly the oil & filter I want, always with a new crush washer. If one has a house and a garage, quite frankly, I can't see the reason why a car nut wouldn't change his/her own oil. Takes 15-20 minutes.

Well depends on your preference really. I tend to think of the oil change as the time it takes to drive to the shop, time for them to do it, then time to drive back. Instead, I can drain the oil, do something else, put some more oil in, then call it a day. More work yes, but I like the time savings and the fact i can choose my own oil.
